Has anyone been keeping up with Sarah Phillips who I think is from Olentangy Liberty? She is leading her team with an ERA just over 1.00, been conference pitcher of the week two weeks in a row, and her team has moved up in the DII rankings from 11th to 5th in the nation.

Hitter, I believe there was a walk on to Butler last year who found significant batting time, but I didn't see her name on the roster this year.

Melissa Bonner at Ohio University is another player to watch. She led her team offensively as a freshman last year, and she is at the top again this year so far.

That was (and is) a fun bunch of girls that played summer ball together. We parents have great memories of watching them play and hanging together. Several are no longer playing softball, but I am sure are doing quite well (Lea-Charleston, Kelly-Hiram, Kelly-Butler, Jess-Urbana). Several are still playing softball in college: Brittany and Tami at Urbana, Cam at Wittenberg, Jen at Capital, Mira at Lincoln Memorial. Maybe they can get together for a couple more summer tournaments.
I see that Jen is tearing it up early at Capital. Mira is also doing very well at the plate at LMU. I wish Wittenberg would provide stats. I am sure Cam is doing well.
Danger1,
We've enjoyed being around Tami and Brittany as well. We hope to see them again this summer out on the coaching circuit somewhere.

I just got home from Adrian where my DD plays. What a beautiful afternoon for softball. They swept a double header tonight to move to 11-1 on the season. Mine started game 1 and not her best day. Gave up 3 earned off a HR and a couple unearned. Not so easy to get away with mistakes as it used to be for her. She went 4 plus and left trailing 5-3. Offense came around and pulled out a 6-5 win and her fellow freshman picked up her first win with 3 innings of scoreless relief. All in all, DD is doing well so far, 4-0 along with 2 ND's, an ERA under 2 even with the off outing today. She's an Ohio kid from the Ice last year and a HS nobody ever heard of.

They won game two 8-0. The other main starting pitcher was rolling again tonight and is now 6-0 on the seaon with 4 shutouts. She was D3 national player of the week last week after a great week in FL. Meeeeechigan kid, but I won't hold that against her. :)

The team is doing very well early in the season and even moved up to the coveted "others receiving votes" in last weeks poll. :) They'll be surprising a lot of people this season and it's exciting to see they are doing it with mostly sophmores and freshman with just a few key older players.

Kinda funny to go to a game and see all the UM stuff. I'll make it a point to wear some Buckeye stuff for the game Friday, just to show the colors. Fun stuff for Dad.
