5monsters,
I don't mean to disqualify your feelings about it because they are valid, but we should all be aware of what our children are doing online. Predators thrive on lazy unattentive parents who let their kids run-a-muck online. If a parent is concerned about their childs birthday being posted, they have the choice of removing it from their profile. I personally like it being there, with all the zealous debates that go on here, it could be helpful to know that you are having a reasoned discussion with an adult or a child. Even more helpful when the discussion needs to be stopped (locked or even deleted).
In the event that there is something inappropriate happening, both parties can easily see who they may be conversing with. Takes away the "I didn't know" factor that many of these scumbags cry when they get busted. JMHO
