Do UIC Really do anything???

Do the UIC'S really do anything? Does anybody know what to do when things get way out of hand with the umpires besides wanting to beat them?

Example is at the dust bowl never lined fields of Kettering Park we had several things happen in our 14u bracket.

1) I asked the umpire a question about his strike zone ( calmly and quietly ) and he told me that he was a ASA professionalism, yes professionalism, umpire and that it was his call to make then he turns around and tells a guy in the stands that he will meet him in the parking lot if he wants to, not a parent of my players.

2) In another game we had the field ump smelled like marijuana so bad it is a wonder the kids never got a contact buzz running by him. The other Coach and I talked about that after the game.

3) The same ump that wanted to beat us up in the parking lot the night before told me to tell my kids to quit harrassing him, they were in the field and he was behind the plate, still cannot figure that one out.

4) We were ready but M.C. Blaze just finished and the wanna beat up everybody ump was trying to push our start time up and would not give his girls a break, this is last game of the day, no game afterwards. I told the coach to take his time and that if they wanted to start the clock they could. Well, of course he started the clock cause he is a professionalism ASA umpire. I say he is a jacka$$ my self.

Now onto the 18u side

1) The two umpires get into a fight on the field and nobody knows why, nobody

2) next game the field ump calls our girls, not the coaches or parents but the girls white trash. What is that all about? Our girls are white trash but he is so big and sloppy looking that it takes him an hour and a half to watch 60 minutes, go figure.

3) The same white trash calling ump then wants to belly bump our coach on the way off the field after the game, gee, what would most coaches have done at that point?

Well just so everybody knows this was the Ohio Danger 13u and 18u teams this was going on with. I do not believe we are bad teams nor do I think we treat others bad, if we do please let me or Jeff know. I am really just wondering if anything happens to the umpires when stuff like this is brought to the UIC or TD. Do umps need to take drug test or is it okay to give everyone a high on the way to the field. Are umps allowed to push coaches with there bellies, just wondering I guess.

Bill Beckham I think you are a very nice guy but I think you need to re-think where you have your tourneys and where you get your umps from.

I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND KETTERING FIELDS TO ANYBODY. DUST BOWL, FIELDS ARE NEVER LINED, NO SHADE ANYWHERE BY FIELDS - NOT EVEN OVER DUGOUTS AND OF COURSE THE WONDERFUL UMPIRING STAFF - THEY ARE PROFESSIONALISM ASA UMPIRES ALRIGHT!!!

I did hear or talk with quite a few coaches that did say they would not be back, I am one of them.

You need to have the TD immediately summoned to your field, especially on the umpire smelling like Marijuana. The Umpires work for the TD. The TD has the authority and responsibility to run his tournament in a fair and professional manner.

Only had three bad umpire's the entire weekend. Of course, two of the guys worked the same game. Had one play where the girl from the other team was laying on the base and umpire calls her out. I just shook my head and laughed but it gets better. Then he goes and talks to the homeplate umpire and changes his call. There was nothing to get any help about on the play. Didn't bother me since he blew the first call. I really think some of the calls were blown because of the three inches of dust obscuring the bases.

I really think tournaments at Kettering need to be boycotted till some things change, but as long as we all keep going nothing will change. So my team is guilty of helping this go on at Kettering. Spoke to several people who were not happy about the service and food at the main fields concession stand. I guess I got lucky and got my walking taco from the stand near fields 11-14.

This kind of post some people probably wont want to sound like the devils advocate but really? If you really have these kind issues with umpires REALLY then arent you smart enough to know to go to the TD immediately? Doesnt make sense how a responsible coach would put up with... especially thinking drugs are on or involved with the game. And who told you that the ump smelled like Marry Jane anyway? I dont have a dog in this fight but seems to sound awful bad for no one on the offended team to do anything. JMHO

Are team the valley Storm 18U has gone to the championship game every week this summer season and I thought these were the best umpires we had all season. Even the games that we were watching around ours the umpires were good. I think the food service was great, it was a little expensive then normal for me but the food was good and they had a lot of choices at the main consession stand. The only thing I think they could fix was that they did not line the fields for the championship. I have seen these same umpires for years at many tournaments and High school games. They are good umpires. I myself am an umpire and thought they did a good job.

18U platinum Championship score

Valley Storm 7
Central ohio ice 1

Our team went 7-0 on the weekend. Great job Storm.

I was smart enough to go to the TD. Why do you think I posted this? I am asking if anything really happens to them because they were still there the next day.

Congrats Northmont on the win and going to the championship every weekend, you do have a nice team but if anybody thinks these umps were good all weekend are kidding themselves. I think umpires should have to pass a drug test and a eye test. A conditioning program would not hurt either. IMHO

100% agree Paul. Any tournament at Ketterings fields is a disaster because the city just doesn't care. Plus the Dayton association of umpires is by far the worst around. There are some good ones there, but for the most part, they are sub par. We had a good time at the Elizabeth Spano this weekend, they had a huge complex at Kyle park to maintain (12 diamonds) yet they were lined every game.

I agree too. The place is a dump. Food service was way beyond horrible. Our team would not eat anything there but a hot dog if desperate. Scary to think anyone would find that place nice.
