Re: Do you take her home run away?

As an asst coach on Slammers, this is what had me ticked the most. The girl that hit the HR was down, not crying but down. When I asked her what the problem was she said she just wanted the entire situation to go away. My heart was crushed when she told me this along with the look on her face. This kid is a great ballplayer, but an even better young lady. She is respectful, hard nosed and is easily coachable. Im sure down the road she will look back and (probably) laugh about it, but she wasn't yesterday! Just an unfortunate situation.

Its because of people like CZ that girls quit this sport. This young lady should have been basking in what was probably a huge positive moment in her life and because of this instigating, manipulative, bully, she wound up in tears. Boy CZ you should be proud! You made a 10U player cry.

Knowing now how this poor girl was feeling makes me madder than I've been in a long time. CZ between this and the bat issue you need to stay away. You are not the kind of person that this sport needs.

. Maybe the best suggestion I give is for CZ to delete his password to OFC . Maybe instead of the " post quick reply " box we need a " Dont hit send " box ???

I don't want to and wont jump the case of CZ. Again, she was down, but not crying. Stingrays did have each girl sign a ball and presented it to her and that part was classy. To me, that's commendable but doesn't erase the decision that was made. Mom and Dad didn't know what to do or think other than to encourage her that she did nothing wrong.

Scoots, you are a stand up guy, but you are using the word coach rather loosely when referring to yourself.....jk. I do feel bad for the Stingrays coach. We have all had that parent chirping in our ear about how the other team is cheating and you as a coach need to do something about it. So, who do you urinate off? Your parents, or the other team? It sounds like he knows he made a mistake and I would venture to say, he has learned from it. I think we all need to take a good hard look at what we are teaching these young ladies...

Yeppers he didn't use them only sold them:rolleyes:

Why would a parent allow their daughter to play for this guy, why would anyother coach listen to him, why would anyone allow him to umpire, why would anyone support his softball business? As was said in the previous catastrophe of a rolled bat thread - if you do any of the above four you deserve EXACTLY what is said about you and what you get.

Seriously - 10u?

IMHO - OP did exactly what he set out to do when he started the thread. Got the coach slammed.

You are not the only one that got the slander email. He doesn't realize that once something hits the internet it never goes away.

Re: Do you take her home run away?

I know Matt and he is a good guy and coach. Hate to hear that he got roped in to all this.
Others involved can defend themselves, but I just want to second the comment above. It sounds as if you simply have a coach who was just trying to do his job and took action before he had a chance to think it all the way through. When he had a second to process, you can see he did the right thing (and only thing he could do at that point) and gave the girl a game ball. Matt has always been a class act when we have played his teams and I know he puts the girls first. Since this is the type of mistake any of us as coaches could easily make (if we are being honest) in the heat of the moment, I would suggest leaving the post up... maybe something good can come from having this brought to our attention.
Also, if this is my daughter, no one is taking that home run away from her! Forget the call, she STILL put a ball over the fence in a 10u game and has a signed ball to prove it!!! I would take the opportunity to celebrate a big accomplishment with her and try to motivate her to continue working hard at a game she is clearly very good at!

Oh, let that dead horse be dead. :-D
My team was idle this past weekend. It's just a question.
I was at practice this past weekend and one of my girls took one deep. As she rounded the bases the next batter mailed her before she crossed the plate. That turned into a coaching opportunity for me.
Unfortunately, as long as umpires get talked into making stupid calls like this, coaches need to either be prepared to dispell the myth by citing the actual rule points (e.g. assisting, live ball) and protesting the call -or- teach their players not do it just in case they get a bad umpire.

I'm deleting this post before it starts any name calling. Will request an admin to remove the entire thread.
Of course you will. I don't usually post on threads where one team calls out another but I'm really struggling with this one. This is the 2nd thread I have read in the last week where this C_Z moniker has completely disgusted me.
How can an organization (Ohio Glory) allow this person to coach a team when he has admitted selling rolled (altered) bats and has now called out a 10U roster for touching a player before hitting home plate? Who could possibly even consider allowing this guy to coach their daughter?

This is clearly an individual with a personal agenda and the girls are a much lower priority. I once had some respect for this org...........once.

Ok, people I'm closing down the thread. Why can't just discuss the question with out name calling and bashing others.
