What are the rules concerning how many players from one school can be on a travel team? Are there any rules? I was always under the impression that you couldn't have more than 4 girls from one school on a team.

I think it is you can have as many as you want until August 1st. I am sure Bretman will chime in here.

HS coaches may only have up to 4 girls from their HS on a non HS team.......a travel coach (not the HS coach) may have the whole HS team together but is limited from June 1 through last day of July.

There is a grace period for the first couple days of August if that is when the National tourney is played.

This disscusion has been brought up many times and what I get out of all the past post is that as long as the HS coach doesn't coach them they can play together all summer without restriction, but the HS coach has 10 days of contact during the June 1 thru July 31 and after that the exception is if they qualify for a National event.

It is true that a HS coach can have no more then 4 girls from the same team from his HS team, and incoming freshman do not count. The girls must have played for him the previous season.

not quite true....all summer as long as it falls between the dates of June 1 and the last day of July.....as far as a grace period goes I read nothing of such a period, and all it takes is one person who may have a bone of contention to ruin someone's day who may choose to stretch the time frame into August. It is clearly stated in the rules what the dates are.

OHSAA bylaws 10-3-4(b) allows non-interscholastic squad to compete at a National qualifying tournament beyond July 31 until the team is eliminated, but not past Labor Day. So Nationals in August are OK.

So, you could have a team made up of all players from the same school, without restriction, as long as they don't play school ball???

how about the asst. coach for the varsity team or a jv coach do they fall into the same as the head varsity coach about the 10 contact rule

Yes same school without restriction if they didn't play school ball.

The entire coaching staff is limited to 10 days combined contact.
