Eastlake Summer Classic = Awful

I am insulted by the posts from ASA (TB) and the Eastlake Crusher organization or parents.

1 ? The tournament information clearly states TWO ASA umpires for ALL games. This did not happen. Why was money not refunded? Most 18U and 16U pool play games had only one umpire. They are trying to blame it on Butch (umpire assigner) but the reason is purely financial.

2 ? My team was an hour drive from the tournament. We finished pool play mid/late afternoon. The site director actually told me that we had to have someone at the fields at 8pm to find out the seeding for the next day? The Jaguars and the Sunraze were standing with me and overheard this. I asked if I could leave a number, he actually told me that it was stated in the pre-tournament mailing this way and that I had to be there. Is that great service?

3 ? How can you set 1st base at 65feet, find out it is wrong and then NOT fix it?

Dust ? bad but I have seen this before. Bad umpiring, ditto. But not points 1-3.

Last year this tournament was Pony and I read about the awful umpiring and the organization tried to blame it on Pony. This year it is an ASA tournament and they had major umpire problems. When will they stand up and make it right.

Your right there is no excuse. I can only assure we are trying to correct the problems that have been sighted. As the JO Commissionor the buck stops with me. We will make it better, but we realize we have a long way to go. And we hope for more continued constructive feed back.

I see you name me in your post. I was not aware of the 65? base situation but I have discussed the other items you mention with the Crushers. As you know, it is a small Fastpitch world and I know many people in the Crusher Organization and Tom Burke personally. The Crusher Organization is doing a lot for fastpitch in our area with their fall league There are many people in the organization along with Tom who care about the game and the young ladies who play it. I believe they will do everything possible to improve upon any shortcomings.
