Fair or Foul Ball?

During my 10U friendly Sunday a pitch was popped up half way between home and first base. My 1B came in and with both feet in fair territory she extended her glove into foul territory and the ball hit her glove and fell to the ground in foul territory. I was the ump and I had no idea how to properly call it. What if she had one foot fair and one foot foul? OFC community help me. Send me a reply or a rules link.

foul ball - any ball touched while foul - regardless of player position is foul...

Foul ball! Doesn't matter where the fielders feet are, the only thing that matters is where the ball is when it is touched.

Can also be a bat, clothing or even an umpire!

Great question that lots of people don't know. I give coaches and umpire clinics and this is the first question that I ask..... most everyone gets it wrong.
As was mentioned, feet don't matter... where ever the ball would have landed if not touched is the call.

Dont forget it is a fair line.....If the ball touches any part it is fair...........

This is not football- it depends where the ball is. In this case it was foul.

Once the 1b dropped it the runner could not advance because the play was dead because the ball was foul

Another question on the same lines:

At a high school game yesterday a batter dropped a bunt that landed in front of homeplate (fair territory) and rolled into the batters box (was not touched until box).... fair or foul?

Umpire called it fair. I was thinking foul...

Box does matter. It's the direct line from the back of home plate to first base bag with is called the foul line. Part of the batter's box is in fair territory.

Thanks Quakerman. That does help. I think the ball was fair! Fortunately, I was watching other high school teams play and not mine. So, no argument was made about the call from me! LOL
