Outcast, you are correct IMO. I'd wear him/her out behind the plate on that one. I'd take my coach's shirt off and heckle quietly behind him (yes, I'd have another shirt on)...
Boulder - I remember her coming in from third in that red and blue gameface yelling bunt!!! You guys were our arch nemesis during MS ball a few years ago!
Fastpitchblue - thanks for looking, if an ump declares them illegal and the girls are not allowed to wear them, that ruling would apply to anything on the face of the girls' I would surmise, so all sunglasses and prescription glasses without that certification would need to go too...for that matter, I would push even contacts and mouthpieces...!! Yeh, I know that sounds idiotic, but look where it started...;&

That's funny...if the girls are being a bit lazy during a practice or whatever, I always threaten to take my shirt off, for some reason that motivates them. I have NO IDEA why!! :lmao: Must scare them more than the threat of suicides!
Punish? We play BM as a REWARD!!!

BTW, thanks Lester for the information about the Ripit mask, we are awaiting for our order to arrive. My wife and I feel better and making our dd safer about this after reading the experiences kids and have through.
At 17 and a Junior in High school my DD had to move over to 3rd in high school, she has always been a Middle infielder and a #3 or#4 junk ball pitcher with her travel teams. I thought since she had never played 3rd she should wear a mask. Our High school #1 pitcher has been injured so my DD has been pitching, to my suprise she walked out to the mound the first game with the mask. I am guessing it has been something that has crossed her mind while she was in the circle to.
She takes the mask off when she plays SS but wears it in the circle and at 3rd.
I personally think its something that needs to be seriously considered for a pitcher and 3rd basemen.
Dude, it could have been the bad hop she took in the chops at practice too! I think that shot rung her bell a little.
I have heard now from 2 seperate people that before or during a high school game the OHSAA umpire said the gameface was illegal as it was not certified (like a batting helmet cage). I don't think any gameface nor rip-it mask is certified. After those 2 discussions, I told my DD's, if they have an idiot OHSAA umpire that tells them they are not allowed to play third or pitch unless they remove their gameface to walk off the field. MY daughters play with gamefaces, if they aren't allowed, they don't play, and that's MY rule, which supercede any OHSAA umpire's 'opinion'.
NOCSAE "National Operating Committee on Standards for Athletic Equipment" those of us who umpire this is what we are looking for on Helmets, Catcher's Helmet and Mask Combination they are required to meet the new NOCSAE Safety Requirements.
As for the GameFace and Rip-It not sure if the are NOCSAE APPROVED but neither can I find a rule that states that they are illegal for a pitcher to wear unlike the NFHS 1-6-1 Rule which states that the BATTING HELMETS must have a permanently affixed NOCSAE Stamp, as well as NFHS 1-6-6 BATTING HELMET FACE PROTECTOR, and 1-7-1 CATCHER'S HELMET AND MASK COMBINATION must have a permanently affixed NOCSAE Stamp. No mention of the Faceguard for the Pitcher, But I'll keep looking!
FASTPITCH! Anything else, And you're playing to SLOW!
Seriously there is nothing in the rules that I can find that states a pitcher or fielder may not wear a protective item on there face (jewerly is the exception) If there is, then some higher up had better be pointing it out to me, Because I have never, nor will I ever require a pitcher or fielder to remove their faceguard. (Unless required by the NFHS or OHSAA Rules.)
I agree with your quote. "I would surmise, so all sunglasses and prescription glasses without that certification would need to go too...for that matter, I would push even contacts and mouthpieces...!!"
I hate to say it and while I may not be the smartest Blue on the field, some Blues are arrogant and ignorant and have such an obsession about their authority on the field that it's a power trip for them, and I will refuse to work with the like of those.
