I hope she joins the Racer team. We are looking to go up for a game. Make a weekend out of it when we aren't playing.
Well this is amazing no one has anything to say (that is a first)
Is everyone waiting for Howard to reply.
I am torn between ripping everyone for not stepping up and begging you to get on board.
What a great act of kindness this could be from the softball community to kids that really could use help in a time of need
First of all I am not obsessed with anyone (except maybe Martina Mcbride)
As far as the fundraiser I will skip on the 5 hr clinic and just donate my money
as far as the hitting here you go
first a godd load straight back no wrapp around
a straight line of force move to the pitcher with the front elbow
a slight shift in weight of the hips to the pitcher at to touch
then bringing the hands through on a path close to the body (inside the ball) while not letting the back elbow pass the hands (bat lag)
while kepping palm up palm down until after contact
and here is where you will have some fun
finishing high on a lower pitch and a LITTLE lower level on a higher pitch
and finaly having a finish with good balance in any sport it it hard to finish correctly and have bad mechanics
If I were Howard I certainly wouldnt be trying to help the very people that are constantly attacking me, baiting me and questioning every piece of advice they are asking for me to give them! We were making good progress on this thread and then it was turned into this AGAIN. Howard doesnt have anything he has to prove! I am sure it costs Bustos alot of money for travel and lodging so to even expect her to foot that cost is shameful of you. Everybody and their brother ask her to do this stuff. In case you havent noticed it...female fastpitch players dont make great salaries! If this were truly just about doing a good deed it would be one thing...it isnt. Unfortunately, it is more about calling Howard out. Dont fall into the trap Howard. Count us out!!!

Sonny.....
First of all If there was a true interest in doing this from WHO EVER US IS I would find a way to pay her travel and hotel $ and meals only ( no fee)
Because if a high % of people on this board would participate that would be a huge $ amount and there would be plenty of money to pay her way.
and after all If I were the greatest hitter in the world I think (and I do believe that) I would be more than happy to help my hiting instructor that got me there.
as far as the hitting clinic i do not even want to respond.
Howard i am sure I missed something on the big zone question please feel free to elaborate
I am always open to new Ideas

Crystl does a lot for charity of which I will not speak about as that is her private life and I hope you respect that you will respect that.
She sets her own schedule not me and has a scheduler for the western part of the country and the eastern half of the country.
Again if you come to the Bustos Blast you do not have to attend the clinic and you can pay a gate fee and still see her hit. It is a fund raiser for her team as funding is done by a lot of travel teams and colleges however I am not sure if they give any money to charity from those funds received so you would have to ask them personally.
I never taught her how to hit as her uncle Jessie and dad did long before I ever met her. Uncle Jessie is deceased and dad George is still alive. Have I helped her? Ask her yourself.
You did a good job explaining the Big Zone and it is almost word for word as we present it at the clinics so you must have taken notes as someone said you were at East Central. Based on your tone I am surprised to understand you stayed however.
The Big Zone demonstration goes a long way with the kids and coaches in my opinion who swing down and level on the ball as they can visually see how short or long their bat stays in the Big Zone. By measuring a before and after it drives the point home on why we think keeping the hands inside the path of the ball is so important.
We use a piece of caution tape and clothes pins to mark when the bat starts in the plane of the ball and when it exits and use a tape measurer to show the kids and coaches what a difference it makes.
We tell them about Albert Pujolses Big Zone being measured at 60 inches; source GQ magazine Sep. 06 and Crystl's 72 inches; source my garage and various clinic's.
Most kids will have an initial Big Zone of 28 to 36 inches or less in some cases and afterwards 46 to 54 inches or more.
Howard
To be honest with you I have studied hitting since 1984 and have watched and listened to every ball player baseball or fastpitch I could find.
I have been to several clinics before yours some good some not so.
I like the tape for swing path
but I have had my own opinions about hitting for a long time
and I have always related them to what I call line of force.
REMEMBER NONE OF US WERE BORN KNOWING EVERYTHING WE HAVE ALL LEARNED FROM ANOTHER PERSON.

Ok, can someone tell me the main differences between the rotational swing and the
trans-rotational swing.
