I also heard change is coming soon to make it more restrictive for high school coaches.
What I find funny is that the OHSAA thinks it can dictate philosophy from the top down. While the trend among families is more and more involvement in travel ball (club, select, AAU, etc), the OHSAA seems to think it can practically force its beliefs upon families. All the while, each new rule it adopts has the opposite effect of what is intended.
My impression of the OHSAA and other high school athletic associations is that they are almost entirely insulated from their clientele and have little respect for their opinions. To coach high school ball, I was forced to sit through an OHSAA video last fall. Condescending, pious and self-serving. Part of the video attempted to preach the evil of club teams and coaches. I wonder what the OHSAA would think if ASA put out a video that preached the evils of high school ball and coaches? We were encouraged to show the video to our players and their parents. I would have sooner subjected them to a Kevin Costner movie.
