As three inches of snow have fallen on this day Monday March 25 and with the playing fields to soft for a cat to walk on, do you think your High School team will play 15 games before tournament time .With games scheduled for April 2 and 3 I don't see how it is possible we can get the first week in at all,I have seen by the end of this week that the weather is supposed to get better but our field is just not going to be ready by Tue , The team hasn't even practiced outside yet could be a long or should i say short season this year.

I think we'll start on time as most of our ground started to harden before this snowfall. With temps climbing back up into the 50's by Saturday, we should be fine. Can't speak for the southern part of the state (how odd is that)

This is ohio by this afternoon it could be 50 and sunny.
If teams want to get games in they will once the weather breaks they can play every day.
Will only take a motivated coach and/or AD to handle the scheduling. Good luck to all.

I agree with last snow of the year, but the ground is so wet it will take a week in the 50's with wind and sun to dry out.

4 games! ;) So much for global warming?

Seriously though ... msutt is right ... teams/schools that want to get the games in and work some on their fields should be able to get in at least 22-24 of the 27 games if they work at it ... quickly reschedule postponed games, keep people off the field when its drying, switch home and away games if necessary, etc.

Harley, where do you play???
Cause while it has been cold, I have seen the fields playable the last 2 weekends.....Lots of games on fairly decent fields both Friday & Saturday this past weekend.....
Unless lots of rain still to come this week, see no reason fields can not be ready for play on Monday. It is suppose to be in 50's all weekend...

Our fields in sw ohio will be ready to go this weekend. Played this past weekend and will get them playable again by sat. We should be able to get most if not all 27 games in that are scheduled.

There is no reason that every team in Ohio should not get in all 27 games!!! OHSAA allows games to be played up until June 15th when the season officially ends. Most AD's want to scrap the best part of the season just because the tourney has started.

We have a school function that is during one of our league games and the two school AD's are having a "difficult" time re-scheduling!! I reminded our AD that we can play till June 15th, and his response was..."I know the rules!!!" Then what's so hard about rescheduling!!!!

Good Luck everyone!!!

Didn't know that rule, but our AD would never go for that he is a football AD and you know what that means ,If it doesn't have to do with football than forget about it.

With all due respect, Shane, I don't think most girls (95-100%) are going to want to still be playing high school games after school gets out, or probably even once they get to finals week ... families are taking vacations, girls are working, travel players' teams are playing, some girls are graduating and/or going to parties for friends who graduated, etc. The girls aren't going to want to be going back to school and practicing and playing games that aren't for state or conference championships. If I was an AD or high school coach, I wouldn't want any games in June unless we were still in the state tourney.

I can't imagine too many teams playing in June if there is nothing on the line. Travel girls alone will be a major issue. We have a crushed stone infield. I'd say 25 out of 27 will be played plus state sectionals, etc.

Even if one school wants to go into June to finish postponed games, it takes 2 to tango. I remember the one year when my DD was playing high school, we had a conference game get postponed at least 6 times ... we were out of the conference picture, but the other team was still in the running. It ended up being played the week after Memorial Day, almost 2 weeks after we had played our last tourney game. We had one girl who quit the team so she could play Memorial Day weekend with her travel team, 6 travel girls who weren't happy about missing Memorial Day travel games, and about 6 other girls who didn't play travel or didn't have travel games scheduled that weekend, but who could care less about the game. Needless to say, we got blown out. While the word got out about 16-U/18-U travel teams needing to avoid Memorial weekend tourneys in the future, the girls were long checked out ...
