We just moved here from Arkansas. Looking for a high level team but have no idea where to start in this area. She has excellent control and good spin on the ball. Drop ball is her nasty pitch. Change up is consistant. Not limited to pitching as she is a real solid hitter as well. We currently reside in the Columbus area. Thanks for any information.

Get an Agent......have them rent out Berliner.........Charge an admission fee................See what team can offer the most to your family!!!
We all know that it had to cost a fortune to move from Arkansas!

Welcome to Ohio. I would check out the weekly coaches polls on this site. It'll give you a week by week picture of what the coaches in Ohio think of the teams in the state.

http://www.thesoftballzone.com/forumdisplay.php?178-Coaches-Polls-2015

This is true that you will get an idea of what the coaches think, but you should remember that the majority of the top 10 teams would have been '02 teams, and those teams have to move up to 13U this year. With this subject line in the post, believe me...you will have ample coaches contacting you for tryout opportunities. You can make your own decision when you meet the coach, maybe attend some tryouts.
Good luck to you this fall and next spring and welcome to Ohio! Put a post on her or PM me if your DD is looking for a place to work on her pitching over the winter. I know of a good place in Central Ohio that is very close to Columbus. Great facility. Good luck.

Ri- We had many good battles this year. Obviously since your daughter plays on the Lasers, she is absolute stud and I wish her many great years of softball. Do I have a biased opinion of our year this year saying we had the best team 04 team around? Certainly and I feel we have the numbers to prove it… Your Gold squad had a fantastic season also and you can have your opinion thinking you’re the best. You wouldn’t of made the “eye roll” comment if you didn’t think so and that’s fine. If you want to claim, that the coaches poll does all the talking, I completely understand and the Final poll had you guys above us. Can’t lie about that one, it is clearly stated, but we both know what happened in our 7 fantastic battles which included 4 Championship games from Spano, Indy, Dayton, Lasers, & Stingrays.

One thing is for sure.... We both can agree that there is whole lot of talent on both sides and now we both are going to try to reload and hopefully have another 7 battles again and who knows, maybe you guys will get the upper hand. Seems like you have been around this game way longer than I, but you can agree that anyone can beat anyone on any given day. The ride this year was great with many championships for both the Ohio Stingrays04 and the Lady Lasers Gold04.

I know you like to stir up the pot on this forum, but all I was trying to do is to get some information out to a potential interested athlete and her family. Again, good luck and we will see you out on the diamond.

Ok, here goes.... I did not give the "roll eyes" because of the "who's number #1 comment", nor do I care. If we go on sheer numbers win/loss or head to head match ups then you would absolutely be right. Once again, I don't care. With that all being said please don't put words in my mouth Mr. Bailey. You obviously have no idea what I am thinking or how I feel. Soooo to clear this up with you, I made my comment because I have not seen anyone in the last year or two blatantly talk a team up, and seems constantly, as you have with your bragging "we're number 1" and such. Frankly its a little off putting, just my opinion. So with that being said, it was just my response to being a bit annoyed with the "chest thumping" and so forth.
I will say that my slighty irritated response was no where near the spectrum of your irritated response to the final coaches poll ranting your frustration with the poll about how you cant understand how your team wasn't 1st or at least tied, and you listing where and when we went head to head, with the outcome scores. Maybe you sir are a little to worried about the polls and being number 1. That post only lasted about ten minutes before it was removed (wish I would have done a screen shot of it on my mobile), I figure someone else with your team or organization advised you to remove it, or you just realized it was of bad form to post such a rant. Regardless, rolling of the eyes is what I did when I read your post, for reasons already stated, and that's what I typed. I am going to let you worry about the polls, whos number one, and all of that chest thumping. Im simply annoyed by it. Also, im not sure how I stir the pot on this forum, I generally keep to myself or post in response to others. So theres the explanation, please don't assume you know what im thinking.

There is NO more stingrays 04 now they are a stingrays 04 and 03

There is a Stingrays 04 and Stingrays 03. Two separate teams.
And There are no 03's on our 04 team.

I think you might have meant that there is no Stingrays 06.. Our 06 and 05 are combined!

First, I will apologize for putting words into your mouth for I assumed and in this case I was incorrect. Next time, we play you I will seek you out, shake your hand and apologize face to face, because it means more than over social media. I have no problem admitting, that I posted a rant in the polls section. I will repost word for word (saved in my notes) in that section after posting this reply and I will admit I was a bit upset of the final poll tabulation.

If I remember right, you had the same rant (maybe not as extensive as mine) at the end of the year last year for your Diamonds04 team not getting the respect they deserved after a great run to end the season. Finishing 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] in GAPPS beating multiple teams that were ranked higher than you in the final tabulation was, I believe, completely wrong. I agree you guys should have been ranked in the top 10 and even above us. I don’t know how many great runs you had in tournaments, but I know it was a lot. Looks like you have deleted it or I skipped over it not wanting to spend a lot of time on it. If you deny that you posted something like this, that’s fine I have no way of proving it.

You are right, I do a lot of promoting about our team with posting on tSZ, promoting our website, Facebook, and Twitter. BUT, It’s promoting our team, getting our name out there, being excited (possibly over-zealous) about our organization and the game of Fastpitch. I believe we have a lot to offer. It’s a fun time for my family and teaching the game of softball to my little ones coming up rec and now travel. They are like a sponge trying to learn the techniques they see on older high school girls, college girls, and pro girls doing. (mine the other day was trying to slap off of Cat Osterman in the house here https://vine.co/v/eHdwzahdu3W )They love it and are excited about it and I love it.

IT is all about promoting our team and maybe I am going out of control with it. I am trying to do everything I can to promote Stingray name, because we do have good people, a good coaching staff, good families, and I firmly believe and feel that our OHIO STINGRAYS04 name was wrongly dragged through the mud earlier this year by a video you posted. To think that was a “coached move” and trying to purposely hurt another opposing player at 10U is unthinkable/unfathomable to me. I’m not here to change your thinking of the video, but obviously, you saw the post and how there was an eventual “piling on” and thinking that we have a less than respectful team. I thought we could of handled it between coaching staffs privately, but that’s not what happened right or wrong. Maybe this is my way to trying to show everyone, hey look at our team and that we do things the right way in our organization.

I don’t know all the reasons for the move to the Outlaws, but I can tell you that the Wolff guy looks like he has his stuff together. Talk about me promoting… and you know what, I love what he is doing. The website, the posts, facebook, twitter, going out there traveling with his girls to Colorado promoting his girls…. And guess what, I am trying to do the exact same thing, but I am not trying to get them a scholarship or college coaches to take a peek at them right now at 11U, but there will be a time when it will be needed. Right now, I am just trying to say, “hey look at us, we ARE a great team, with great people, great girls, in a great organization.” Never once have I put another organization, coach, or player down. Good Luck this season and again, I apologize for putting words in your mouth. See you and your daughter out on the diamond.

-Matt Bailey

FYI -- I have reposted the deleted post here (see post #13 http://www.thesoftballzone.com/showthread.php?9803-Final-10U-Coaches-Poll-(7-14-15)-RESULTS!!!/page2 )

I would rather not get into the situation with that video, that road has been traveled. However I can appreciate the response/apology. Let's just consider it over. The only thing I can say is that as good as your team and ours was I'm not sure there is any need for "over promoting" them, the girls have taken care of the promoting on the field. There is talent all over this state its just not always concentrated onto the same team. I personally would prefer a little more modesty if for no other reason than out of respect for the many other 04' girls out there putting in that daily grind in effort to get better. Let's just consider this conversation done and get back to focusing on these girls getting better, because as we both saw at ASA USA theres alot of talent out there to compete with and we need Ohio to represent well.

Gold Glove - I have said my peace and as I stated before I believe this was a baited post from the beginning. --- 1 day before Tryout season, in 11U, joined in 2014, from Arkansas, just moved here, but been a member since 2014, 3 posts in that time, 2 already deleted posts from this section and if it is all real, I hope nothing but the best and welcome to Ohio.

Totally agree about getting to work and ASA/USA, I consider it done and look forward to many years of competitions, I'll try to calm down the posts.

thanks RI

Yes they just brought on an 03 pitcher for the Stingrays 04 team her name is Olivia #7 she pitched in the 12u tournament in pickerington , so they r NOT a true 04 team

Oh my gosh... I completely forgot about Olivia. She is very green with limited travel experience. She happens to live next to 04's head coach and it was convienent for her to play with them. She is by no means a "ringer", but has mad potential. Coach George is looking forward to working with her and introducing her to the travel world.. And the level of competition they play.
Many organizations have brought older players with them to play numerous times in the past.. I don't know why this is a big deal.
Who cares...?
