Are you trying to say that these are Elite College Softball programs , I am talking about the teams from the Western side and Southern side of the country ,the reason you have all these girls from Ohio playing in OHIO is because they are not good enough for the Elite Teams except for a few , The respected teams that you mentioned from Ohio don't have a chance against Elite College programs ,Ohio is watered down .

You are making a big assumption. I am sure there are girls that are talented enough to play for the Elite teams you mentioned that chose to stay closer to home or go to a school that matches their career path. There is not much money to be made after college ball.

Did you know it is a fact that 80% of college students attend schools within 90 miles of their home!

Harley you may want to move to Texas or Cali, just sayin!

There is a local girl here in Northwest Ohio that had offers to any school in the country (all the big D-1) who decided to play D-3 locally so she could stay and watch her brother wrestle (who ended up finishing second in the state tournament last weekend). Lots of people were dismayed that she would forgo these schools to play D-3. Currently a sophomore, last fall she was selected to the USA International team and will be traveling and playing in Italy this summer. She was selected to the International team because of her abilities, not because she played for an assumed powerhouse.

A simple answer to the "watered down" question is...Who Cares!!! After reading the post from Meghan wanting to help out all the girls in her area and Ohio, I will never have a negative comment about all the teams that are in Ohio.

It took a young lady who is actually playing this sport to remind us of why we are here as adults. She is our ambassador and our trainer in this. We should be ashamed of ourselves for complaining about how many Ohio girls are not "elite" enough while Meghan is trying to get every girl in the state to get on that field and play. They may never get that D-1 scholarship to play, but they will have a better chance to be healthy, have fun, socialize with people from all over, become disciplined in their future. Any girl on a field in the state of Ohio will have my support and respect.

To some of you-I am amazed that you forgot about the real reason that we are here. Not for the distinction of saying that my travel team has this many signed to colleges, but for the chance to make a positive impact on a young athlete and show them more than the game, but how to be adults.

My team doesn't have elite, premier, showcase, etc after it, but what you can guarantee seeing in my group of girls is teamwork, pride, discipline, love of a game, compassion, critical thinking skills, ability to adjust to different situations, etc. This is my definition of Elite.

initfor51 just nailed it perfectly.

Drop the mic, pull the curtain and kill the lights - nothing more needs to be said...

Why do all of that, when more can be done and not said.Saying and doing (serving others) is two different things. The courageous and thoughtful young lady is doing what we all should do on a daily basis. It's certianlly refreshing to all of us when we hear what she's doing, lets all focus on what we can do help our fellow parents/players make things happen, volunteer your time ,skills, excesses we all have to others that need our help.
