I read this on Ohio.com today and Tallmadge Little League going to the Softball World Series, in Oregon, is wonderful! Plus, I thought Lebron FedExing a note to Head Coach Dadich's house, with well wishes to the team was so impressive! A very "positive softball experience" for the players and families! Good Luck TLL 12u All-Star Team, go get 'em!

Very cool! Think I know who our Team of the Week will be next week (and/or the week after)!

Very cool! So how is Tallmadge able to pull off getting the travel players to play in this instead of with travel teams at the end of the year? There has to be a few tournaments to qualify that would conflict with travel weekends?

There are some really really good rec teams out there. I was at the Babe Ruth Ohio Valley Regional in Fairfield a few weeks back and I was very impressed with the coaching and the players! The teams were no where near what I would consider rec talent but I give them all props for their skill and dedication to the sport.

I agree some really good rec teams exist - just assuming that there are select kids with the Tallmadge group - just curious how they pull it off.

I spoke with the state commissioner about that for Babe Ruth. The major qualification is that they must play in and finish at least 10 league rec games and live within the drawing area of the local community team. They create an all star team at the beginning of the season from the girls registered and play tournaments on many weekends against travel teams. SOGFSA does not allow or would not accommodate these types of teams, from what I was told.

This is one reason Tallmadge HS has great teams year in and year out, the ultimate key to having great HS teams is having the selfless team, community, family attitude first and foremost. Kudo's to these girls and coaches

I just hope that we all can follow and cheer the success of these young ladies and avoid any negative comparisons to top travel ball play. Tallmadge does indeed a storied history of high school ball success, as well as many young ladies who have gone on to be excellent travel ball and college players. Go Tallmadge/Ohio/Central/USA!!

jdub - no negativity here.. asking because I run a rec program in one of the best talent beds in ohio .... tying to figure it out. Not suggesting anything is illegal - just asking what I asked...

We are in this same boat, we were going to play in Tallmadge LL next year in the spring where games, from what I hear, are played during the week and quite a few of the girls are still able to play with their travel team on the weekend tournaments. Where it gets tricky is if the LL team is going to end up going to regional tournaments. That most likely would conflict with some of the end of season tournaments. It is something we would love to try next season since it would be the last time she would have that opportunity.

My DD went to the little league World Series in Seattle Washington with the Elylria Junior Little League and it did not effect the travel ball games at all. The games are played during the week. This is due to the fact that everyone in little league knows that the girls play on travel. The team that my DD went with all played on different travel teams and it never seemed to be a problem.

Good luck Tallmadge girls-All of us Little League alums are very proud of you and looking forward to you bringing it home to Ohio. To the parents-take a lot of pictures and cherish every little memory as it goes by quickly. My DD has done so much through travel ball, but if you ask her-her greatest experience and memories are from the World Series with little league.

I can tell you that from a personal experience we played the Canfield team that had gone to the LL world series and that team could hit from top to bottom. Needless to say I was shocked as I had never seen them play or heard of them prior to that point.

Tallmadge High School softball program has the record of, most appearances in final four at State Tournaments, in OHSAA softball history. Tallmadge just happens to be a very sport centered school/community. They do well in multiple sports, especially girls sports.

Also, my 9 year old played regular season TLL and for a very nice competitive travel team, over this past spring and summer. We thought "allstars" would be way too much practice for her and we choose to have her just play travel ball this past summer. But, that's really no fabrication, they really practice alot! That's the secret, they work hard!

Allowing players to have multiple opportunities, all while the organizations cooperating together to allow the girls to play ball where their talent's take them is the biggest key to growing your community program. Many fail to see that point until they see something others are doing and how well they are doing before they "see the light." I would have to say that those community programs need new blood on the board who is willing to look outside their own park's program.

I have personnaly got to watch these girls from Tallmadge grow from Coach Pitch on..... The secret to their success.... Dedication, Loyalty, No Ego & Love of Softball. It all comes down to community. They chose a few years back to create a Travel/Tournament team that consisted of 100% Tallmadge girls who also play Little League. Here in Tallmadge we play Little League Monday through Friday but on the weekends (and off season ) the girls can play Travel/tournament. And with that girls who do chose to play more then Little League I am proud to say 95% of them play on 100% roster Tallmadge teams. This particular team has played in numerous tournaments and friendlies vs. some big time teams, thus the girls gain valuable experience. Now during the week with Little League the talent is spread out equally among the teams. Then at the end of the season the All Star teams are voted on by the Mangers. And the girls that play/practice the most are usually the best ones and make the All Star team. Pretty simple..... If you would like to follow this team on game changer here is the link https://gc.com/t/summer-2014/central-53a09bf0ad6f49519340e62c They beat Oregon today 10-1 to open up the World Series :)

Exactly how I explained it earlier and how some communities prosper and others stay stagnet and insignificant. Finally I have some proof to my theory. Good luck in the tournament and good job today!

We very well may have the coach of this team on the Radio Show tomorrow evening, if only for a brief "sideline report" while they warm up for a possible game depending on how they do this evening. Go Tallmadge!
