Metal Cleats

12. Shoes are required equipment. Shoe sole or heel projections other than the standard shoe plate are prohibited. Metal toe plates and metal cleats are permitted. However, metal cleats cannot be L-shaped. Cleats must be rectangular and not extend in excess of 3/4 inch from sole. Detachable cleats are permitted if the cleats screw into the sole of the shoe.
Don't see anything in the uniform regulations that separates 7th/8th grade from the high school in this regard, so by default I'd say that they are permitted, but you may want to check with your coach and/or AD as some programs won't allow them even though the OHSAA does.

I coached an 8th grade team last year in the SWC. We followed OHSAA rules and I had a couple of players who wore metal cleats no problem. But most JR. High leagues even if they follow OHSAA rules have created their own guidelines, so I would definitely check with the AD and the coach before purchasing.

The committee approved the use of metal cleats and metal toe plates for all players in 2008. However! NFHS 3-2-11 The maximum length of a cleat is
3/4" of an inch and must be a rectangle spike and may not be round, Detachable cleats are permitted.
