KINGSPORT, Tenn. – Number seven seed Point University (30-17) scored four runs in the first inning and added an insurance run in the top of the seventh and held on for a 5-3 victory over number two seed Union College (31-19) in a first-round game at the Appalachian Athletic Conference Tournament, Wednesday, April 24, at the Brickyard Ballfields in Kingsport, Tenn. Point won its 30th game of the season, the second time in its eight-year softball history that the Skyhawks have won 30 or more games under the direction of
Jennifer Tyler. The 2017 team won 31 games and lost 22. Point has won 28 or more games in four consecutive seasons.
