Anyone ever sign up with this recruiting agency? If so, was it worth it?

KNOW WHAT THEY ARE ALL ABOUT!!

1. Scouting services try to get you to sign up with their company promising to help you get a softball scholarship.

2. This is perfectly legal

3. There will be a fee, some up front and some when you get recruited

4. You can do the exact same thing they do absolutely free.

5. The work required to do what they do is time consuming.

6. They take the information that you give them, and then send it to colleges.

7. Most colleges will tell you that they get very few recruits from these services.

8. Why would you hire one? Probably if you have plenty of money to spend, you have no time to market yourself or you have no confidence in what to do.

I did see two of these companies at the Kent State Clinic and at the Queen of Diamonds Showcase. What they were doing were watching players, taking down stats that they could, trying to get info from Kent or The Q they could use and then trying to get your contact info such as email, phone or address. They then compile a folder and tell you that they were watching and are sure that they have a school that could use a player of your talent, or they invite you to a showcase where "college coaches" will be watching.

I do know that the QUEEN OF DIAMONDS DID NOT COOPERATE with either company by giving them any information whatsoever. They did give "flash drives" out to college coaches but not to ANY SCOUTING SERVICE!!

My advise:

Market yourself!!! Yes, it takes time, but in the long run, it is worth it.

Visit colleges, go to college camps and watch their coaches to see if you like what they do.

Email them and let them know you are interested. College coaches are more apt to call you rather than use a scouting service.

Everything they do you can if you want to do the work. You can make your own DVD, and send it or bring it to interviews. People will say bad ones will hurt more than help, but coaches can tell whether a kid has it or not and will follow your kid if interested.

Get good grades, have decent skills and your kid can play college ball if THEY choose to maybe not. D-1' but opportunities are out there at other levels
Grades first, college for fit and major second, playing ball third most important and just icing on the cake.
