I have never used it. But if it cost you nothing, it is another avenue to get your DD's name out there.

I would never pay someone to do the work that you yourself should be doing...recruiting sites are a waste of money!!!

Put a video together yourself, post it on youtube and contact coaches and get to the clinics of the schools your DD is interested in. Then play on a top level team that puts your DD on the field against the toughest competition and make sure to get the college coaches her schedule. It is not rocket science but it takes some effort..but you will be happier with the results. JMHO

Shayne is right.

It is not rocket science! Get your college profile made, get it it the hands of the college coaches you are interested in playing for and get your winter and summer schedule in their hands as well. Videos are easy and should be short and to the point. Play the best tournaments you can afford to play in so you are in front of the best competition.

Maybe most importantly...START EARLY!! You should be getting to camps and contacting coaches of the schools you are interested in as early as the 9th grade. You may not get any response back from them but continue to contact them, they are likely following you "under the radar"!!

Yes it does...I had the same phone call when my DD was a about a sophomore. Set up a time to come and spill the whole promo till they said the price...I later cancelled and quit answering the phone because they are very persistent!!!

Another point, College coaches want to interact with your dd and the parents when it's appropriate, they really don't want to go thru a 3rd party.

Get the spiral book, "Preparing to Play Softball at the Collegiate Level" by Catharine Aradi. It gives you D1, 2, 3 and NAIA Colleges in all states with coaches name, school address, costs for instate/out of state students, if it offers softball scholarships, etc. This book tells you pretty much what the others said above but gives you more details.

I think Knights gave this info out on another thread, but you can also go to http://collegesearch.collegeboard.com/search/adv_typeofschool.jsp This is a website where you can narrow down your college choices on what dd would fit into best. It asks you if you want big, medium, small school, rural, suburban, etc. and other questions and then it'll give you a list of schools that fit under what you put in. Afterall, its about the education and then-- the softball.

Also, my husband and I looked into and had a meeting with one of these recruiting companies. Bottom line, even though it was still early for our daughter to begin this, they were willing "to start early", and by starting early, you're also paying more money. Yes, they do allll the work, which can be a pain for your dd when she has to contact the coach with her letters, her follow ups, etc., but all the information I obtained all said the same thing, a coach wants to be contacted from the prospect, and yes, your dd may not phrase something correctly in her letter, or she may have misspelled a word or two but the coach knows he/she is dealing with a 16/17/18 year old and expect that....jmo you're wasting your money and you'd be better off sending that money to register your daughter into clinics of the school she possibly would like to go to.
