Just to clear up the last post. The bye had no bearing on the if game. If a team from the 1st round (that did not have a bye) would have went undeafeted in the Winner's Bracket. They would not of had the "IF" game neither. Every other team in this tournament was eliminated in the Losers bracket.
The Lasers advanced to the Championship via the Loser's Bracket, and played very good ball in doing so.
I have never seen a tournament, that every team but one was afforded the luxury of the Loser Bracket. Must be NSA.
Would like to congradulate the Lasers and the Xpress on a very strong showing this weekend.

Jimmy, very well said and couldn't agree with you more! There should of been an if game-period. By the way, I'm a completely neuatral observer with no connection to either team.

Jimmy,
Sorry if I didn't post correctly, what I was trying to say is that the MVE Blue should consider themselves fortunate in receiving a bye which gave them an automatic win the 1st round - the lasers were not as fortunate. I am not opposed and realize their should have been an "if" game offered.

Congratulations to both teams and to the teams preceeding the finals.

Congratulations 14U Ice White!! Way to battle back to earn that title!

Also, congratulations to the 14U Thunderbolts! Two great games against the Ice White! Way to play hard for the 5-4 win in international tie breaker on Sat., and then playing tough and keeping the second game to a 2-0 score (Ice White win) on Sunday! These were two great games to watch! We are very proud of our T-bolts!

What happened to the Valley Extreme 12's this weekend? I saw on many other posts they were one of the top teams in Ohio but no info on what they did in this tournament.

The Lady Lasers had the Extreme down 3-0 in the first game of the tourney, going into the fourth... a couple of hits and some costly mental mistakes cost the Lasers that game. They were indeed a good team, but we did not see them the second day. I think the Wolfpack beat them on Sunday?!

Valley Extreme played our first game against the Lazers and won a hard fought battle by the score of 6-4. Then came the Express and a graet 0-0 game thru 5 innings, We had a throw down to first and it got out into right field. The rest is history we lost 1-0. Then we played our third and fourth game of the day on Saturday and lost to the Wolfpack and Ice teams by the identical scores of 6-5.
End of tourney end of story. Early exit.

The only other comment I want to make is about the firlds and format. Again the fields at Poland were kept in great shape. Watering the fields just shows a tourney true commitment!!!!!Great job guys.
With regards to the format. Originally the brackets had a what if game in them. Why it was removed you will have to ask NSA. It also was a double elimination. Again ask NSA. Lots of questions for NSA HUM?????

fINALLY CONGRAT TO ALL OF THE TEAMS THAT PARTICPATED IN THE NSA "A" States. Not like some that went the "B" route. I guess another question for NSA.

And especially congratulations to the Lady Lazers and Miami Valley Express.

softballdadvx: NSA "B" is a very good avenue for a variety of teams; younger teams in any age group, for example, that want to play competitive ball, but do not want and/or need to get blown out by some of the more experienced groups. Even at the "B" level, there were teams consistently getting run ruled. Do they need to play "A" ball? Would they improve playing teams that far above their level of play? NO WAY. All that would do would be to discourage girls from entering the competitive arena. You play better teams to be a better team, but extremely lopsided teams don't help either side, and the lower ended team many times gets nothing but frustrated players, coaches and parents. "B" allows young 12's (usually 11's) to catch up with a bigger ball, a longer pitching distance, and bigger, more mature girls. It also allows girls new to the game to get competitive work at a level that more meets their needs.
I will agree that some teams play "B" and should be playing "A", but I think for all age groups this gives the ability overall to play on a more even playing field where girls can play competitively and improve instead of game overkill (on either side).

My comment was meant for the teams that had no business playing B. I f a team has any plans of going to A nationals then there is no reason to go to B states. Unless to "notch another win".
I believe at least one and most likely two teams were in the B states that are scheduled to go to A nationals.

I think the rule states if you have won two NSA Qualifier tourney you are then NOT eligable to play in the B nationals. I believe Chain Reaction, Sapphires and Ohio Pride have all won NSA Qualifiers this year.

So why play B???

Comments on the facilities....

Pros:
* nice fields
* excellent job on maintaining the fields
* easy to get to the facility
* lots of hotels and restaurants nearby
* nice indoor concession area

Cons: (constructive criticism I hope!)
* $5 adults/$1 kids per day...guess you need it, bit doesn't mean I have to like it!
* very small area to warm up before games...not sure what you can do there.
* ONE little grill for FIVE ball fields? PLEASE!!! Very hard to get a hamburger or a hotdog...and the hamburger and two dogs I FINALLY got were raw/frozen. Nice idea, but please bring more grills next time!
* have ADULTS work in the concession areas (keep it moving)

All having been said, I wish the Thunderplex was in "our neck of the woods". It has to be a real help to softball in the Warren area.

Just curious what age group you were talking about not playing at states. As far as 12u goes for "A" states you had alot of the top programs. Lasers (2), MV Express, Wolfpack, Stingrays, Ice, Valley Extreme, Sting, Doom, Ohio Classics, Peppers, sorry forgot last team. I would say most of the top organizations were there and by no means is this a representation of how they should be ranked. It would be nice to see more teams at states though.

The debate is over. On any given day, it seems that most of these teams could be considered the best in the state...but Lasers Green did it when it counted.

I totally agree with you, dedicated_dad! The NSA states were the time for each team to prove themselves, and the Lasers Green did just that. ?;D

softballdadvx: What is that comment supposed to mean?

How about congrats to ALL teams that played hard all weekend in both the A and B State Tournaments. We went the "B" route and we saw a lot of great, competitive softball games just as I'm sure you did.

Congratulations to the Sapphires and Chain Reaction for their first and second place finishes in the "B" 12u division! Keep it up CR!! ;D

Softball mom, you sure talk about the chain reaction a bit. If there so good why don't they play tougher teams like miami valley, lasers green, valley extreme or cinci doom. I would like to know if they have beaten any of these teams. Its great to be proud of your team but be realistic. If teams our so good don't dodge the "A" bracket to say you got 2nd place. I agree with the vxdad play where you should not to notch a win.
