The debate is over. On any given day, it seems that most of these teams could be considered the best in the state...but Lasers Green did it when it counted.

I'm not affliliated with either team, but I don't think that you can say that one team is THE BEST team in the state. ?I believe that the Laser Green and the Miami Valley Xpress, along with a few other 12's are AMONG the best teams in Ohio. ?This should be taken as a compliment to these teams but it seems that some teams don't want to share the spotlight? ?Maybe we should be proud and encourage each other instead of being divisive and elitist.

well i thought that the MV Xpress took the loss very well. The grils didnt complain or say anything bad about the other team, even when they had to listen to the Lasers go wild they still sat tere with their heads held high. Xpress you all are great same with your coaches you all are very respectful. Girls keep up the good work and #21 u pitched a great game for them and dont get down cause your an awesome pitcher. I think that MV Xpress and the Lady Lasers are the Top two teams in ohio great job ladies and keep it up. ;)

lilsis05 - obviously you did not see some of the Miami Valley Express girls not go thru the tunnel made by the Lasers. My daughter said one of the coaches pushed them away from going thru - hum....good sportsmanship?

Our laser fans were ONLY loud because - we wanted to keep our girls pumped and ready to play their 5th game straight! It was not out of disrespect for the Miami Valley Express.

There is no system in place to "rank" the Ohio Teams, so there should be no debate. The only thing you can go by is that Lady Lasers Green took 3 out of 4 tournament titles where both teams completed.

Good Luck to our Lasers and the Miami Valley Express Blue!

Missles Mom
Who ever said that the "tunnel" was sportsman like? I have heard alot of kids complain that they hate that. It seemed condecending the first time I saw a team do it and it seems most kids, coaches and parents see it that way too. The game is filled with emotion. Parents and coahes have gotten down on kids when they're not "up" during a game, but whenever a kid shows some negative emotion then they're called a poor sport. That's having it both ways. Sports are an emotional rollercoaster and there are ups and downs. So if a kid gets upset, that's part of the game. It sounds like your kid was part of the winning, but I guess you want it all the victory and royal treatment. Take your hard earned loss and be happy, because your team did a great job. But don't get down on a team because they're emotional. Most teams think that losing stinks that's why it's so enjoyable to win. And I think I speak for ALOT of people to all teams, take that tunnel thing :eek:and do it to your coaches but let the team that lost go back to their own dugout in peace!

The "tunnel" has always impressed me as one more way to try to humiliate an opponent. If it is such an honor, why doesn't the loser do it for the winning team when they go back to the dugout? Want to show respect for an opponent, give them a loud cheer and a meaningful handshake at the end of the game.

Here is my vote for banning the tunnel. It is a soccer thing that should stay in the 12 and below soccer leagues. Stick with the hand shakes.

I agree. I think the "tunnel" is demeaning and seems to be a way to rub it in.

the lasers formed the tunnel only as a gesture of good sportsmanship. they did not think that the miami valley express blue would think of it as negative, as they formed one for our team at the stingrays tourney. hum..........

I second that vote OhioRays! I don't even like it when it happens in soccer! It seems like a back-handed attempt to further humiliate the losing team.

I will definately pass along this forum's opinion on to our team and suggest eliminating it.

Thanks!

Missles Mom, I am Head Coach of the 12u Miami Valley Xpress.I feel the same way about tunnels as Crunchtime, bballcoach, sftballdad, Buck-1, Ohio-Rays and anothersoftball-mom. That is the reason I discouraged our team from walking through your tunnel, I see it as a way to rub it in.
You Know the Xpress never did the tunnel at the Sting-Ray tourney, because for one I would not allow this type of Bush-League stunt. So please only post the truth.
Your attempt to bash the Xpress failed miserably, so please do not make up things to try to right yourself.Hum!
I would also like to congradulate the 12U Lady Lasers Green on their 1st place finish. We always look forward to playing them as it is always a very competitive game. Cogradulations to all the Ohio teams that played in Poland this past weekend and Good Luck at the Nationals.

I thought it was a great experience for our girls to
play against some of the top teams in Ohio. The Poland
grounds crew did a great job with the fields and all the
games our team played in were reasonably competitive.
I have to say that Miami Valley Express and the Lasers
are very good. We lost to both teams on Sunday and lost
to both teams in the Central Ohio Stingray's tournament.
We have played several good teams this year and these 2
teams are at the top of the list. It was also good to play
against a couple of teams we knew nothing about: the
Cincinnati Doom (they swing the bats well) and Ohio Peppers.
Since the topic of the aftergame tunnel came up I will make a comment on sportsmanship. Our motto is: "Respect all - Fear none" In teaching this to our girls we emphasize cheering
for their own team, not against the other team. We are not in favor of cheers intended to rattle the opposing pitcher or any other action that might be conceived as "rubbing it in." If the
tunnel is offensive to another team it's probably best not to do it. It's not something we normally do. I have the utmost
respect for the teams we played against this past weekend as well as all the teams that participated in the State Tournament. Best of luck the rest of the season.

Miami Valley Express 12U Blue

PS to MV Express coach. You guys must be the most improved team in the State of Ohio. Not that you were bad last year, just saying you are near the top this year. Give us your secret....

Coach Jim, first of all i want to tell you that you have avery talented team that has given the Lasers a battle each and every time we have played. they are also a well coached team. As far as the tunnel goes, I think that it would be a very demeaning thing to do if the game was a blowout. Our kids and coaches have nothing but respect for the Express and in no way meant that gesture of sportsmanship to be taken any other way. BJ and Kiara. :)

and also before I forget, the coaches for the Lasers did not tell the girls to form the tunnel, they did it on their own and since you refer to it being Bush League, I take offense to that comment, because my kid along with the rest of the Lasers are NOT Bush League players or girls. Good luck to you and your girls, they are a fine team. bj

Coach Jim,

I concur with live_4_fastpitch, our girls (who are 12 and under) thought that was showing good sportsmanship and like I said earlier I will pass thoughts and opinions on to them.

I would, however, give your team and our team, a little more credit than a "bush league".
