We will be hosting an series of indoor tourney's this winter for 10u, 12u, 14u and 16u teams in the SW Ohio area. We will host the 14u and 16u tourney's in Nov/Dec before the girls break off for school ball. The 10u/12u tourney's will be held in late Jan/early Feb timeframe.

We will be announcing the exact dates and times in the next several weeks. To pre-register your team to be notified when the dates are finalized please complete the form here http://www.ohiohawks.com/indoor

We will be working with SWOBAT in West Chester, Ohio. With there nine (9) batting cages, four (4) pitching lanes, and a 120ft. x 120ft. painted turf infield, there is ample space for full field games and allow teams to practice / warm-up between games in the pitching lanes or hitting cages (we will have several JUGS and ATEC machines avail) http://softball.swobat.org/

Games will begin on Friday evening up until approx 11pm and pick up Saturday morning.

Our goal is to have each team get in at least (4) solid 75 min games over the weekend. We are looking at keeping the fee to a minimum of $275 per team.

The 120 x 120 turf field is constructed with painted lines and bases and we will have a secured pitching mat with mound for the pitchers to throw from.

I hope the teams that have contacted us already will go register, we look forward to having you in to compete. As more information develops and dates / times are set we will post here and email all the pre-registered teams.

Thanks again .. hope to see you in December!

Also, we will have a video camera with Right View PRO system set up.

Any girl that would like their swing video taped, marked up in RVP and placed on a DVD to take home to analyze and compare to the US Olympian player of her choice can register when they arrive at the tourney...

We had a question about the type of softball we will be using - it will not be a SOFTIE ... the turf on the field is not spongy so.ccer turf but rather turf designed for use to allow the ball to take a natural bounce. The field is a full diamond width as well, not 'scrunched' narrow like we had to do on the soc.cer field last winter. Your girls will also not get any head slaps from balls bouncing off the walls or run into the glass socc.er wall .. it is wide open...

It provides a true softball experience for the girls. In fact, Miami U's coaches commented during our clinic we held with them last winter that they wish they could practice there...

Maybe you have not been lately but they have two sets of bleachers for the parents to watch the action... and no it is not carpet, but turf designed for indoor ball.... stop by and take a look and report back what you find...

Been there many times. Great place to practice, not so great to sit for hours and watch games. Two sets of bleachers for multiple teams of parents. Where do all the players and parents go when they're not playing.

Indoor/outdoor! Call a spade a spade!

We asked our parents to compare it to the s.occer field where they sat behind glass and could not hear anything or see into the corners... after our clinic with Miami U coaches they voted overwhelmingly to hold it at SWOBAT ... Dates are coming out next week!

Thats funny... I recall a bunch of Hawks parents and coaches that complimented on how well they liked the facility where they sit behind the glass....;&;&

Sorry for the confusion ... I was referring to our Indoor tourney we did last season at Kingdom Sports Center... it all went well but the feedback we got from our parents and the other teams was that the side walls are dangerous (collisions), the overhead nets interfered with too many balls, players had no place to practice/warm up between games (SWOBAT has 9 cages/lanes) and parents could not 'hear' the game ..

SWOBAT was built for base/softball (Xavier U practices and scrimmages there) and for us it was a better place to hold our Indoor practice and scrimmages going forward ... we may still hold a 10u at KSC - the smaller girls fit the field better...

We will be holding an Indoor tourney the week of Christmas thru New Years ... exact dates/times coming soon... what better time to work off the Xmas break doldrums than mixing it up on the diamond.... PM me if your team is interested...

Lester (Static) and my 11u Hawks team would like to invite a couple 11u teams from Columbus area to a North/South challenge ... I talked to Matt from the Classics and he loves the idea... if your North team is interested let me know!

Here are some photos from the Clinic that the Miami U coaches and players did for our girls last winter... they have "padded" walls as well...

Here is 1/2 the field... the drop down divider is down so we could hit on one side and do infield drills on the other... Also notice all the hitting and pitching lanes in the rest of the facility ... the place is great and we just signed up to hold 4 indoor trny's and 10 weekly 3 hr practice sessions for our girls there this winter...

Notice the nice stands where parents can watch the action close up!

Where is this facilty located? Can I get my DD in there to train? It rivals the facilities that we trained at in Socal with Deb Hartwig.

The DD and I stopped in this place yesterday... very nice... this is a great training facility for softball and the ball field is ideal to hold indoor games on.

Hartwig is super - very high energy person - likes to show how to catch (she went to Cal State) rather than just talk about it.. her camps are very well attended .. shame she only has camps on the west coast.
