I got a kick out of this one when I heard it, I know what I think but I'm interested in your opinions

Hypothetical question for the group:

Father, Mother, DD and little brother playing softball together at a community field on a lazy afternoon. DD is a JV high school player and Dad happens to be a summer coach.

Any rules violations?

lol! Used to do that all the time in the summer, and quite frankly, I didn't give a second thought to OH$AA - and I wouldn't today either! I would toss, wife would "catch", and "little" brother would shag. Great family time! Oh... the only difference was I was not her coach.

It's a trick question!!!

Daughter is a high school player, right? That means that dad has been at three evening games this week. It has rained the other three. Dad is cutting grass on Sunday...

:D

Bretman is going to clear this up but if memory serves me correct, the original wording of the OHSAA rules did leave people wondering if this was a rules violation. Since the first version/draft, they have explained that Dad can indeed be a Dad AND a coach without risking sanctions from the OHSAA OR from home. lol. I pity the OHSAA if they ever tried to enforce that a parent couldn't play ball with their own kids.
