You know what this post disgusts me. what is the big secret with these players...who $#@%ing cares??? i'll tell you that the first baseman is Casey Burns, the pitcher is Brittany Fowler and the other is Cammie who does centerfield. they don't belong playing up in the 18u they need to stay down where they belong...i've hit off both of these pitchers before and if they think playing up to the 18u is soooo cool, there wrong! Abbey and Brittany need to stay off the mound and out of 18u. and shame on ohio softball for letting them out of there age group, and if there not going to stay out then they should stay real close to thier teamates when there not on the mound. there's no reason for this team to think that they can make fooools of the 18u age groups.....woooopty get out of Ohio then if you think your all that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! sorry for the mean post but i think it's just not right to have a 14u team playing at 18u

Sounds like sombody is having a hissy. Lol! It's not about what they do as individuals, but as a team when given the level of coaching they receive. They arn't competing at 18U but will on occasion play an 18U team to advance their skills. This makes them stronger than the competition at 14U and even a lot of teams at 16U. I'll give you nobody wins all the time or always pitches a perfect game but their record speaks for itself and they have the potential to go further in the ASA's than most other teams from the midwest. But if you feel that you need to vent about girls who average 4 years younger than you then go right ahead sweetheart, venting is one of the things we do here on OFC.

I really enjoy folks with feedback that have to creat a new identity to sound off. :lmao:

Hey from a U15 coaching standpoint I can't wait to see how they do at that level. It is always refreshing to see top talent playing in situations where wins are not a sure fire guarantee. Even if they drop games at 18U...by the time they get to Nationals they will be stronger, better, and game tested.....of course there is no guarantee they will win it all...but why not try? Of course they have all the ingredients as long as the team chemistry is there.....don't hate about it...cheer em on...one day they may be a teammate!

They already played some 18U this past summer, so I'm guessing they'll be able to handle it next summer.

In my teenage daughters words " quit sipping the hater-ade and get over it, cause Im sweet at life!" In this case these girls are sweet at softball which is life, right!

Don't know what the big deal here is, we signed a "multi million dollar deal" with Pizza Oven last year, we even let them put their names on our bat bags. Now thats worth talking about isn't it?

It's worth talking about not having to pay our team fee!! :lmao::lmao::lmao:

Do you know how many letters I have from 2011 and 2012 grads who are playing on 18-U Gold teams? And I'm only a D3 coach, not D1. There is no shortage of girls coming out of 9th grade next summer who will be playing 18 Gold out west.

Linedrive17---you have to have some awareness of how you come across to others when you post a flame like that. Nobody says you have to agree or like every topic on here, but when you post like you just did, it looks like a little kid throwing a big tantrum.

Your choice of language, thinly veiled threats, and sarcasm all serve to make you look petty and desperate---they do not project confidence and maturity.

To get your message across and get people to take you seriously, you have to present a reasonable argument and clearly state why you don't think this team should be playing so far up out of their age group.

(of course I may not be the best person to lecture about being taken seriously---with all the silly cat pix I post ---but you get the idea.)

No one is trying to make fools of anyone. Bigtrain is trying to advance softball in this state. Lay off the sour grapes.

Those 3 girls (prefer not to use Kids' names), along with several others (including my dd) were mocked by some when they played winter indoor Spano against Varsity High School teams as 7th graders ("they can't compete", "it'll be embarrassing", "they'll get hurt"), and had a very good season (I know, it's "Indoor"). Included in that winter season was a win over D1 State Champion Hudson, and then later a close loss to Hudson in the tournament part. Hudson knocked off Hoover that year to interrupt Hoover's 3-peat to force them to settle for book-ends at State.

Each of those kids are individually good enough and mentally tough enough to respond to that competitive level. Knowing several of the other Slammers parents, coaches, kids, ... it is like a hand in glove, they are joining some other VERY talented smart kids. I am looking forward to watching them pursue their goals, and wish them well - great kids & families, "totally" miss them all.

Lastly, hope we get a chance to play them, as a friend said to me recently ... "okay, they can be the 14u Olympic team, we'll just be Japan for a day", lol. We wish you well, but we don't fear you, and would love to take a whack at you :) .... would you want it any other way? of course not! It's war between the lines, and "party time" once the Ump says "that's the game, folks" .... :p ;)

Good luck to the ex-Slammers as well, more great families & talented kids pursuing a new path, in a great situation also.

Good luck to them all, let's see what they can accomplish!
