I will say that with some true TLC this park could be great again.

Good old-fashioned hard work and sweat equity would go a long way at this park, and wouldn't take a massive amount of $. If the people who run this park pay attention to what is being said here, they can make the necessary improvements and really have a good thing going.

agreed. We have families with heavy equipment that have been offered to be brought in for a trade in tournament costs or a portion of... Hard to get time to do it due to men's softball. We tried...

My thoughts is hey take 1 step to get 2 steps ahead. It would be nice to have Pastime as "THE" go to park in Cincy!!!

The Fall after leagues are over is when you do it... putting more dirt on it, etc... and then let winter settle it in and level itself out. First good drag in the Spring should level any low spots.

Do it in the Spring... and it will be a mess until it rains and dries AND rain and dries, and so on...... But when you start Men's events the first weekend on March... spring DEFINATELY is NOT the time to do ballfield reconditioning.

As for umpres, what was happening is the FACT that a guy wanted to come in there and scheule the umpires and Marty said he was going to do it. The gentleman told Marty to let him know when he needed umpires.

So, in the 2008 season when Marty needed umpires .. he called the man who sent rec league umpires from the local SOGFSA league. Of course that was a disaster and all the umpires heard complaints and NO doubt I heard screaming going on other fields all the time...LOL

It was a bad year...

In 2009, it was back to the same old thing AGAIN... and after the first two events of the 2009 season, I seen where coaches and parents was slamming the Park about their umpires. I asked Marty to allow me to help him and get some umpires in from elsewhere. Obviously, I was going to make some of the locals upset when they weren't doing games or surely a lot less that what they was wanting... like the 7 or 8 games a day.

I did upset the locals.... I brought in umpires AND USSSA even paid 1/2 of their sanctioning fees as well as many was ASA sanctioned. It was that bad and the National Office was even hearing about it.

Well, we did 2 events and I scheduled the guys and gals in. At the July World Series event... the rubber was moved of course for the 16u semis on two fields... but the Park didn't want to take the time to make a new pitching circle as the other one was gone anyway.. as you can't seem to get them to reline the fields at all. I sat down and made them put new circles on the fields.... I mean..come on.. it's Sunday and the games were getting better all the time. The whole game is about the circle !!!!!!

Obviously, I upset Marty and one coach even laughed about the "egg" circle that Marty put on the field....LOL

Umpires make or break a tournament as we all know.

In 2010 season, I have no idea who was doing the scheduling.. but I heard they was having problem once again. So be it.

I am trying personally to get a new location and have an event on the July 23rd-24th weekend in Cincy area. We shall see. Should know more this week sometime.

With Kolpling Park looking to get into girls Fastpitch, Pastime may be just that Past its time.

With the decline in mens softball there are several local Cincinnati parks and several local rec. parks looking to get leagues, tournaments etc to fill their schedule.

If a park puts up temp fencing, and has the restroom facilities of an Mid American or Kolping they can pick up the tournament /league dates from some of the under performing parks..

Kolpling Park is a nice park.. but limited amount of fields for a big event unless you only do a couple age groups at a time, etc...

$1100.00 to $1300.00 plus tax for temp fences you put in the ground and take out for a 200 ft fence radius with 8 feet on each side of the foul line extended from the playing field.

With three lighted fields (and possibly a fourth if they go through with removing one of the s***** fields) leagues will work and they can host age specific tournaments.
Temp fencing is a must if they want to compete since teams will have several options over the next few years. Rivershore & Pastime both have some work to do to keep their Fastpitch revenue. CCAA and some other rec. parks also may have some impact down the road.

The parks that INVEST in Fast pitch will get the teams.

Damn, I have seen plenty of decent SOGFSA Umps do a better job alone, than I watched 2 men crews due at PT's Halloween tourney!!!!

They were clueless on where to position theirselves to make calls. Seemed to not know how to work together & just do a quality job......It was very sad.....

And most had a major attitude. There was like only a 70 or 75 minute time limit on games & I saw Umps wanting to call games that were barely over an hour in......

Ive something good to say;

Oh sorry I lied:lmao:

I do excavating and 30 yards of dirt per field would be a start ,probley not enough.A dozer and 2 good weeks to get the 4 fields in half way good order. But they would also need a couple dry wells as the water doesnt go any where real fast.
Thats just a start.
