As for umpres, what was happening is the FACT that a guy wanted to come in there and scheule the umpires and Marty said he was going to do it. The gentleman told Marty to let him know when he needed umpires.
So, in the 2008 season when Marty needed umpires .. he called the man who sent rec league umpires from the local SOGFSA league. Of course that was a disaster and all the umpires heard complaints and NO doubt I heard screaming going on other fields all the time...LOL
It was a bad year...
In 2009, it was back to the same old thing AGAIN... and after the first two events of the 2009 season, I seen where coaches and parents was slamming the Park about their umpires. I asked Marty to allow me to help him and get some umpires in from elsewhere. Obviously, I was going to make some of the locals upset when they weren't doing games or surely a lot less that what they was wanting... like the 7 or 8 games a day.
I did upset the locals.... I brought in umpires AND USSSA even paid 1/2 of their sanctioning fees as well as many was ASA sanctioned. It was that bad and the National Office was even hearing about it.
Well, we did 2 events and I scheduled the guys and gals in. At the July World Series event... the rubber was moved of course for the 16u semis on two fields... but the Park didn't want to take the time to make a new pitching circle as the other one was gone anyway.. as you can't seem to get them to reline the fields at all. I sat down and made them put new circles on the fields.... I mean..come on.. it's Sunday and the games were getting better all the time. The whole game is about the circle !!!!!!
Obviously, I upset Marty and one coach even laughed about the "egg" circle that Marty put on the field....LOL
Umpires make or break a tournament as we all know.
In 2010 season, I have no idea who was doing the scheduling.. but I heard they was having problem once again. So be it.
