Recently heard that one of the players on our fallball team couldn't pitch because her pitching coach hadn't "released" her yet. ? ?What the heck does that mean? ? Was told that her coach doesn't feel she has perfected some of her pitches yet.
I don't get it. ?If you wait until a girl has mastered all her pitches, she'll never play. These are 16u girls, not absolute beginners. ??I mean, isn't this part of what fallball is about?---getting a chance to try out your stuff, workin' it out? ??(I don't want to seem cynical, but I kinda think the coach doesn't want to look bad if the girl isn't aces---not good advertising).
I understand that it isn't just about reps, ---that "perfect practice makes perfect", ?but you gotta let a girl get real-time experience. ?No amount of practice time can substitute for gettin' in the circle and letting 'em fly in a game setting .
