went to the OHSAA web site today to view some tournament stuff and saw where they released enrollment numbers for girls/boys. My question --what are the number cutoffs for each division ?

Saw where D-4 Williamsburg has 132 girls and (current D-3) Lucasville Valley has 135 . Will both be D-4 in 2012 ?

With 48 girls and 38 boys I guess Portsmouth Notre Dame will stay D-4 LOL . MD

The cutoff is different in each sport and is based on the enrollment of that gender in the school. That is why some schools can be DII one year and DIII or DI the next, based on how many girls they lose/gain.

A lot of what the cutoff is is determined on the number of teams in the sport the make up of the area of the state they are in, those sort of things.

Last I looked, the OHSAA website shows the current cutoff numbers for each sport, and are updated every 2 years last I remember. If I am not mistaken, it doesn't make any difference what area of the state you are in ... if there are say 600 teams with softball programs, the 150 largest (in terms of girls enrollment) are D1, next 150 are D2, etc. From there then they divide up the districts/regions.

The new enrollment numbers are posted right now so that administrators can check for errors and make appeals. They have until May 6th. The actual divisions aren't decided until later meetings - fall sports at June meeting, winter sports in July and spring sports in August.
