How many girls from the same high school can be on a year round travel team?

Once upon a time it used to be no more than 4. That's now been changed to unlimited.

The number of player limit reference is mainly for teams coached by the High / Middle school coaching staff and the 50% rule #7. At the HS level/age players do not play/practice year around with their travel team like they can do under 14. Teams generally will get together up until the no contact period Feb-May then resume in early June late May.

Now there are many teams made up from ladies from the same HS/middle school at the B and C levels that play summer and fall ball.
I know of several other teams with 6 or more at the lower A level that play from late May to Aug 1st and a couple fall events coached by "non school" district staff.
Now, Covid protocol changes did create some changes last season and OHSAA opened up coach contact but honestly OHSAA has better things to do than check the rosters of 1000s of summer softball and baseball teams that change every August.

Back in the day what we did with the HS teams was fall ball in some weekday fall HS leagues and Sunday winter leagues. Travel players on the team played weekend tournaments with their travel teams in the fall. In the summer the ladies not on a travel team played on a team in the HS league.
Here is a quick ruel guide:

And June 1st through July 31st is unlimited contact by HS coaches but August is a no-no. That said, we're on limited to 10 out of season practices.

You are still limited to 4 from same High School. Exception is Memorial Day to July 31 no limit as long as High School Coach isn’t coaching. The new OHSAA rep for softball just emailed all coaches today

It never stops amazing me how OHSAA, a private organiztion, reguates who plays where, when and with who when HS is not in session. The schools should put a stop to this constant confusion.

they don't restrict in any way where you play out of school season, they restrict player participation in their OHSAA world.

I am still confused. Per that link shared below, there is an exception for the 4 per team rule, that says more than 4 can play between the Friday before Memorial Day and July 31st. So- that means that a travel team who has more than 4 players from the same high school CAN play/practice together between the Friday before Memorial Day and July 31st, but CANNOT play together outside of that date range? Is that correct? I feel like it should be black and white but I still find it confusing lol!
So if you're on a travel team with like 8 players in the same grade at the same school, can they still play together on their travel team, but only within the specified date range?

So a high school can have unlimited contact now until July 31 but can't coach those same kids in tournaments? The way I understand it is that the high school coach CAN now coach a team with more than four from the same school during the summer because of them lifting the 10 day contact rule

Your explanation is how I understood the new rules to be

My understanding, it's unlimited from same high school team as long as it is NOT coached by the middle/high school coach. Then the 4 player rule gets involved. HOWEVER, you can get away with 8 players by said middle/high school coach. At 13/14U when young ladies move up, the freshmen who played are under the HS team and the incoming freshmen are technically still under the middle school team.
