We have lost a girl for the fall due to an injury. We have a tournament coming up in October and was wondering what the rules are about picking up a sub that is on another team. Is this against the rules if the girl is registered (sanctioned) with another team? Is there any legal way to get around it?

Any help with this would be great. Thanks in advance.

Depends on the sanctioning bodies. As far as ASA, I was told last fall by an ASA official that even if the team qualifies that the player is subbing for, it does not tie her to that ASA roster because it is the fall season. . . .

Spring/Summer season=different story

What age group? DD has had a few colleges that said they want to see her play this fall and her team is only in one tournament. She is 16U eligible JR that played 18U this past summer.

"Most" fall tournaments are open roster unless it's a qualifier. I would turn in a hand written roster form and not worry too much about it. Like Mike said, if it was spring/summer I would dig a little deeper and find out the right way to do it.
