Quick rules question

Of course, stating that a pitcher "can't bring her hands together- ever" is totally false. If that's what the umpire meant, then he is in some serious need of training. The rules require them to join their hands at some point before delivering the pitch!

At first, was she stepping right on the pitcher's plate with her hands already together? That is an illegal pitch, as they do need to separated during the initial "pause", while taking, or appearing to take a signal. This is perhaps the most common pitching infraction I see. And, it would be the only situation I could think of where an umpire might tell someone their hands "can't be together".

By the way, any schmuck off the street with seventeen bucks in his pocket can buy an OHSAA hat. I'm just sayin'...

Believe it or not, yes. By the end of the game she actually was standing behind the pitcher plate, would step forward with her left (pivot) foot onto the plate and stride through with her right. At no point did she pause and put her hands together, they were separated from beginning to end. In my years of experience, THAT is definitely an illegal pitch. But as long as she never put her hands together, he did not call an illegal pitch.

The fact that any schmuck can get a hat with that on it, says it all!! :lmao:
