Roster Questions

We were recently at a tournament (USSSA) where a player was picked up to pitch, we were told by a USSSA director that a girl can be on 2 rosters but could not be on 2 rosters at the same tournament. Is this also true of ASA and NSA? If the girl in question is released from the roster of a team that won a world series berth she is not allowed to go back to that team right? And can you be on a roster for 2 different teams in 2 different age brackets that have both qualified for a world series? Also once you have played in an A tournament as a 13 year old and you are still eligible to play 12U ball can you still play on a B team? Sorry for all the question we were just having a hard time finding answers in the rule books. Thanks!

I'm so probably not the person to answer these questions for you. ?But, I'm pretty sure that a player is not permitted to play on 2 ASA teams at the same time. ?You need some wisdom from Ringer, Johnnies, Sammy......or another one of these softball gurus!!

I've looked into this a little. This is how I think it works. Usssa you can play for more than one team but not at the same tourney. Asa you are locked into the roster of the first team you play in a tourney for but you can fill in on other teams in different tourneys. Thats my understanding from their rules.

Chicolflip, that is basically the way we have done in the past. As long as you stay out of ASA Qualifier's .
NSA ,one team only. I learned that the hard way years ago. Our local travel team had 12U,14u-16U. To have enough kids in some tourneys we allowed them to play up. Not allowed in the NSA tourneys.

Since you are on the subject, could you help me along this same line. If I am short a catcher in an ASA Qualifying tourney, and pick up a girl that is not on a roster or playing softball at all, is it legal for me to add her to my roster for the 1 tournament? As of now I am not sure this will happen, but due to H S graduation and ect, it could, so I would like information in advance if it should. Could I use her as a pick up player or guest player or any other legal way or do I just have to withdraw from the tourney and in turn, hurt other teams also.

Thanks in advance. BTW, I have read all the information but not able to find or learn what can be done leagally. I appreciate all the help you can give.

Sincerely,
