Hitting and Hitters Discussion Rotational hitting

Wow, sorry, I have been very busy sense I last posted. Maybe I can help clarify a few things. First, my name is Dave Saturday and I don't visit any other forums other than this one. Secondly, Dominic is my son, he is an 18 year old student attending college in South Carolina and one of his passions is talking baseball and softball. I live in the far Northeast corner of Ohio and help coach a travel team. I enjoy working with girls from our area as the opportunity for them to hit correctly is not readily available. My dd does play high level, her teams have played in and won such tournaments such as Stingrays, Laser Nation, etc. I asked my original question from what "I" observe in our travels. It is evident from the posters here that I might just be stuck in the wrong geographical area and feel a little out numbered in my way of thinking. When I asked the original question I wanted to get a feel for whether I was on the right track or just a minority, that's why I stated " without getting into the technical aspect of it". There is no doubt that I think we are on the right track, maybe I can't explain it as well as some of you, but I don't think we are that far apart. Anyways, great discussion, I'm sure Dominic will chime in, what else could you probably be doing in Myrtle Beach this time of year, lol.

So what do you think about my post. Take the arms off and watch the swing.
Forward...linear weight move then it goes rotational.

Any one see it any different

You know those large charts which are used to show the projected start & ending times for a large construction project? GANT chart maybe? It would be awesome to have muscle contraction sensors placed on all of the hitter's muscle groups which measure the start & end of muscle usage and plot them in sequential order along with intensity.
I think what that million dollar computer program would prove is that straightleg is correct. The motion begins in a linear fashion towards the pitcher then becomes rotational as the stride foot heel plants & initiates the hip & torso turn.
Linear teachers be happy.
Rotational teachers be happy.
That is it in a nutshell.
More specific focus beyond this is necessary when a hitter isn't getting parts of this wrong.
Hitting coaches are like economists....line them all up & you still don't get a consensus.
My humble opinion.

Chris O'Leary actually came to Springfield, Missouri as a guest of mine for a clinic a couple years ago and got to see for himself how we teach and what we teach. Not sure if it helped him or not however he got to ask questions and see other kids who actually train that way.

It appears to have had a profound impact on his "swing" beliefs. He has gone from preaching rotational mechanics (including a Rotational Hitting 101 DVD)to now preaching what he calls the "High Level Swing". It appears another DVD is in order.
