Rule Help - Runner Leaving Early

In a 14U game, runner at first appears to leave early on the pitch. Batter hits a foul ball down the first base line. Base umpire makes no call on the runner.

As I go out to the coaching box next inning, I ask the base umpire about the girl who I thought left early. He said she definately left early but that the foul ball negated it.

So the question is.......does a foul ball negate a runner leaving early violation?

Runner leaving early is an immediate "no-pitch" dead ball, runner is out.

No..... Runner should have been out...Like exxwhy said it is a dead ball once ump calls it...

Exxwhy has it correct or at least that was how it was called today in Wilmington and of course it was our runner.

Since it is a "no pitch" the instant the runner leaves early, the batted ball cannot be either fair or foul. If the batter contacts the pitch, where the ball eventually might go or land is moot.

Dead ball, runner out.
