DD is 12U. She thought about it, and wouldn't even consider the medals. She says have them don't know or care where they are. She said shirts would depend on how they looked. She said trophies! Then i mentioned the rings. She said championship rings would be cooool! She said a championship ring wins! Wife liked ring 1st, trophy 2nd, 3rd hoodies! I liked ring 1st, hoodies 2nd, trophy 3rd.

Rings, hoodies, trophies is my selection in that order, too.
If you give the 2nd place girls a trophy and then the 3rd place team hoodies... all heck is going to break loose.
I will tell you, the girls loved those championship rings at the event in Clinton, Ohio in July of 2010 ( and they still wear them ). We had 4 - 9u teams and 4-10u teams.. and the winners took home the rings. The 9u coach told me the girls won one (1) ballgame all year.. and it happened to be the weekend before this event.. and then they went undefeated and won the rings. They actually became a very good ballteam and are now 11u. New Albany team won the 10u that year. The girls came walking into an August tournament sporting those rngs.. and so did the coaches.
I love the rings... something different for the younger girls. They do have gold rings ( and they are indeed plated with 24 kt ) and silver ones as well for second place. Costly to give out rings for second.. but in a big event.. not really.
One year .. and this is about team trophies... I had a nice 1st Place team trophy made up. Cost me really too much and the coach asked me, " You know what will happen to this trophy ?" I said, "no." He told me it will hit the Kroger dumpster before I get home. All it will do is collect dust. So, I asked for it back and he gave it to me. Now, go figure that one out. Took me two years to ever buy another team trophy to give out. One year I bought an $80.00 desk clock for 1st Place state champions. Rather spend the money on the girls instead of a TEAM TROPHY for something useful that they like.
But, I am indeed a different kind of person. I like to see eyes light up when the girls figured out what they won (rings). It's fun to me.
