Went out Black Friday shopping with the family this past weekend. DD decides she needs to pick up a pair of what I will call Chuck Taylors, but they are low cut, but those of you who are old enough will know what I am talking about. Anyhow, while I am standing there, I start thinking about how she blows through shoes each winter pitching in the gym. With the rubber topped toes and and rubber sides of the shoes, will the Chuck Taylor style shoes hold up better to throw indoors in the winter as opposed to regular tennis shoes? My wife keeps telling me just to get the pitchers toe, but I am not sure I am handy enough to get it on correctly. Has anybody used the Chuck Taylor style shoe to pitch indoors and did they hold up better than the regular shoe?

Same issue with my DD blowing through shoes. We just purchased a pair of the Ringor shoes from above...our first pair....so far so good. She loves them.

My DD was blowing through both cleats and shoes for pitching indoors. The toe was a mess. I bought tuff toe (not the molded toe....the tarry stuff). My husband followed the easy directions and we are no longer ruining shoes. Was only 20 and SO worth it. Found it on the tuff toe website but also saw it at Dicks Sporting Goods a few times as well.

Buy cheap shoes from wherever. We put shoe goo on them before she ever uses them. Several layers allowing the previous layer to fully cure. I use a popsicle stick to spread it on evenly. It is about $4 and whatever you choose to spend on the shoes. It actually lasts a long time. She is only ever going to use them for pitching so they don't need to be cool. They won't ruin her "rep" with her friends. Lol

Ringor pitchers turf shoes are good but I always applied the liquid tuff toe on the pivot foot. Bought a pair for my DD and the toe started to peel away the first day. Called Ringor and they said they don't guarantee the toe will hold up so I bought the liquid tuff toe and the shoes held up great after that. Also the Ringor shoes offer better support for the pivot foot. Other shoes will allow the toes of the pivot foot to curl over during the glide and I have heard about some pitchers pulling the muscles in the top of the foot from the toes curling under.

I injured my push foot about a month ago showing my dd how to drive not only out, but also up. It's almost a hyperextended or strained feel. Who knew pivot foot injuries were possible?

As some have already stated, the Ringor turf shoe with built in pitching toe is by far the best option. DD uses Ringor spikes on the field and Ringor turf shoes indoors or on turf. They are more money but we find it cheaper to get one pair of Ringor every two years than to buy two to three pair of other cleats each year.

My DD uses Volleyball shoes for indoor pitching on gym floors or on turf surfaces, the way they are built the rubber and front leather wears really well, where a normal tennis shoe burns right through on the drag foot
One pair has lasted a a whole year where the regular tennis shoe could be burned through in one pitching lesson!

We bought indoor Lacrosse shoes for $50 (great turf spikes on the bottom) then added the Tuff Toe goo and they worked perfect. Actually added the goo to old Ringors that had been previously used up with hole worn through the pitching toe and that works too. $4 can extend any pitching shoe for at least another season.

After searching high and low for a good indoor pitching shoe and burning through countless running shoes, we have found a solution that thus far I am very impressed with.
We went out and found a nice turf shoe that offered comfort and support for my DD, we ended up purchasing the Akadema Zero Gravity turf shoe on sale for 29.99.
I then purchased the Tuff Toe shoe protection epoxy online for $20. You apply it to the drag area on the shoe and it hardens to either a shiny or matte black(clear or white also available).
After four indoor pitching sessions which would typically render her shoes garbage, there is little to no wear to the shoe at all.
I am absolutely impressed!
I would strongly recommend using Tuff Toe on any shoe of your choosing. Wish I knew of this product sooner, it would of saved me hundreds over the last few years.
I will definitely be applying it to her cleats this year also.

P.S. I am not affiliated with any of the above mentioned, I just wish I knew of them sooner.

My daughters Ringors lasted 4 games. Waste of money! We have had the best luck buying shoes from the tuff toe website. They do a factory dip and is by far the best route for us
