Heres a small report , this computer in bogged down here at the Ol' Super 8 in florence.

12u A division Pool Play (sat) Cinci Doom95' 9 Louisville Lady Sluggers 0 Wild Thangs 1 Cinci Static Black 0 games started about 2-3 hours late , crew did a good job getting field to be somewhat playable after large amount of rain. Static hit into some bad luck, WT played solid D. very well played game in muddy conditions

Doom 95 7 Wild thangs 4 . Our D got a little loose, they cashed in some wild pitches,passed balls, and a few hits to get up 7-1. We scored 3 off Emily A in the last at bat. Gained some confidence i believe. Best 2 games our team has played since Fort Wayne indoors. Doom 1 seed WT a 2 in this pool.

L Lady Sluggers beat the Static 4 -0 . Don't count out the static , this pool grom 1-4 is a step or 2 better than the other 2 pools.

Louisville Stunners won their pool. The late sat pool play games were shortened to 1 hour.


This AM Wild Thangs 5 OFC heat or blast ? 0 Very nice comeback for our pitcher who threw against the doom last night. Very sharp ! 2 shutouts in 3 games Good D , again best we played in months .

Don't get any B results. WT's play winner of a doom -sluggers tonight at 7;30 . Stunners marched thru their pool games but I did'nt get a chance to see them play.

14u Stingray Seeds went 1-1 yesterday , lost 1-0 to Fort Wayne _____ someone. Thats all I got MD

Winners bracket Semi Finals. ?Lady sluggers were sluggish or still celebrating the Doom game
Wild Thangs ran away from them for a 10-2 victory. ?Thangs are showing that early season swagger. Really super proud of the girls . Thru to the winners bracket final this am.


The other semi final was one of the best games I've watched in 2 years.Louisville Stunners VS Woodburn Extreme (Fort Wayne Ind area) ?GREAT softball. I started watching some in the 4 inning score was see ?sawing back and forth 1-0, then 2-1 then 3-2. ?Looked like a pitchers game with runs hard to come by. ?THEN the O on both sides starts cranking. ? This game was a great for coachs discussion. Tons of stratergy ?but the biggest choice the Woodburn coach made was not running the clock out (60 seconds and counting) with 2 outs they are up 6-4 , stunners runner on 3rd , he can pitch around the hitter (semi intentional walk) or fiddle fart around to run out the clock. I don't know with certainty what call he made but 1st pitch the stunner girl grounds back the mound for the 3rd out with less than 40-50 seconds showing on the outfield clock. They were the home team . New inning starts. ?In the bottom of the inning the Stunners get 3 runs to win 7-6 . ? These 2 teams are for real. ? Woodburn has the size of a large 14u team. ?Stunners have catcher that ?has the best arm I've seen in 2 years. ?

MD, have to agree with you on the Louisville Stunners VS Woodburn Extreme game. I came in about the same time. Woodburn's coach did not sleep last night I'm sure. He didn't need to kill that much time. Where I was standing I could not see the Louisville's hit to left to win. Looked like it should have been catchable.

As I type you are playing in the bracket final. Whatever the outcome congrats on a great tourney, you beat some other very good teams.

Looks like the 95 Doom took the long way to finals through elimination bracket. ?They won against the Wild Thangs to get to finals and looked impressive in beating the Stunners in the 1st game of the finals. ?

Rarely, if ever, do I post results. But after today's performance by the Doom '95 team I must sit down and brag a little. After losing our first bracket game Satuday morning to the Louisville Sluggers the girls refused to hang their heads, a month ago they would have. The girls bounced back with a win late Saturday night. We returned back to the fileds @ 8:00am today and then proceeded to win five straight back to back to back to back to back. To come out of the losers bracket to beat an impressive Louisville Stunners twice in blistering heat shows me how much these girls are driven to win. I want to thank the Doom '95 coaches and all the other Doom coaches, parents, and players that hung around till the end. Thanks for a great Father's Day present Doom '95!!

10U (B) Divison (Day 3 -finals day-Single Elimination)
Due to a loss in Day 2 for Cincy Static, they had to beat the Hawks twice on Day 3 for a shot at first
Here's how final bracket play went:
Game 1: ?Cincy Static vs Ohio Hawks 10-0 (4th inning run rule)
Game 2: ?Cincy Static vs Ohio Hawks ?11-2.

Champs: Cincy Static 10U with an overall record of 6-1.

Congrats to the Static.

In 10U (A) Cincy Doom 97 eliminated KY Xplosion in a great game by both teams (3 extra innings) on Saturday evening. Doom 97 was eliminated by the KY Diamond Cats on Sunday morning.

Final game Sunday afternoon was between the Diamond Cats and the Indy Edge.

Not sure who won that. If anyone knows please post. Diamond Cats went into the game with one loss.

WOW --huge hats off to Doom 95 , We played them in the losers bracket finals, They beat us 4-0 , maybe 3 maybe 5 or 6 ??? I know we seemed drained and ready to head home. Kids just had zero energy and I talked to a couple Doom coaches and mentioned it did'nt even seem their girls were fired up. Very strange quiet game. We gave away 2 runs on a pop up in the infield .

What were the scores of the 2 doom-stunner games ?

In the finals of the winners bracket WT's fell to the Stunners 8-0 . Worst game of the weekend for us , reverted back to sloppy softball. just gave up too much free stuff. several errors. We still seem to have that bi-polar stuff going on.

Hey Les, Kavin had a great line in one of his arguments with the umps. It was a little heated because the ump called him stupid. After a heated exchanges of ideas Kavin was walking away then turned back and yelled "if it wasn't for me guys like you wouldn't have clean clothes". Still cracks me up ;D

For those that don't know Kavin is coach of the 12U Static Black, very smart guy with a very good job at a major household products company, whose products everybody in Cincinnati uses. Hope he doesn't mind me telling the story but it was line of the year!

Hey Kavin --nice to meet you again on friday. The Wild Thangs squeaked out a 1-0 win in a 1 hour time limit game. Static hit into bad luck , line drive back to the pitcher for a DP with either bases loaded or 2 on. Who knows what happens if that game goes the other way. I seriously doubt we end up in the winners bracket final if we drop that close game.

Wish the ump argument would have been in our game , would like to see him in action. ;D MD

Also nice to talk w/ you again on Friday during the beautiful weather . Your team had an excellent weekend & played very well against us. You have a very solid & talented team, you guys will peak at the right time!!! Can't wait until we play each other again - should be a barn burner.

For the first time all year, our girls showed up at Sluggerfest with a lack of intensity & drive. I can not explain this after coming off a Heatin It Up tourney championship where we hit the living daylights out of the ball & would not be denied a vicotry regardless of the situation. I guess these types of weekends are what challenge us as coaches. The girls now understand that they can not just show up & win, they have to earn every victory.

I see on their website that they came back to win the second game as well and take first place. Sounds like some fireworks in between games....
