SAN MARCOS, Calif – After taking both ends of a home doubleheader last week against Saint Katherine, the Hawks softball team gave two games back to the Firebirds in San Marcos.

USK took Game 1 by a score of 5-8 and then captured Game 2 outscoring SDC 15-19.

In Game 1, the Hawks jumped out to an early 3-0 lead on an Keelee Davis RBI double in the first, a Kayla Domingues sacrifice fly in the second and another Davis RBI double in the third. The Firebirds answered in the bottom of the third with 3 runs of their own.

In the top of the fourth, San Diego Christian took the lead once again when Montana Potts and Noemi Farfan both singled in runs. The Firebirds came storming back with 4 runs in the bottom half that ultimately decided the game.

Game 2 saw an offensive explosion from both San Diego Christian and Saint Katherine. The Hawks once again took an early lead, only to have it quickly erased by the Firebird bats.

With USK leading 4-6 going into the third, the Hawks thought they had taken control of the game by posting an 8-run top half. Freshman infielder, Julianna Campusano scored first after being hit with a pitch. and finished off the scoring with a 3-run homer later in the inning. Unfortunately for the Hawks, the Firebirds immediately answered with an 8-run bottom half of their own.

Saint Katherine took the game by a final score of 15-19.
