[Softball] Tigers sweep Bears
Georgetown College softball finished off the sweep Monday of Shawnee State University. The Tigers (18-7, 4-2) pounded out hits, had great pitching and made key defensive plays to keep the Bears (14-10, 2-6) at bay all day. GC won 3-0 and 9-1 (run-rule, six-innings).
Hannah Morton controlled game one from the circle – seven strikeouts (98 for the season). The first real threat came in the fourth when back-to-back hits eventually led to runners at second and third with one out. Morton buckled down and got a strike out looking. The next batter harmlessly popped up to Corrin Robinson.
Chaselyn Allgeier had the hot bat – 3-for-3 with two runs scored. Kara Howard also ignited the offense on 2-for-3 hitting with two RBI. Morton added the nail in the coffin with a solo homerun on a 1-2 pitch.
