Stride doesn't look to far as she really keeps her center of balance over her core. Pitch does look inside and maybe off speed. I just love in almost all these clips , how the girls just power through the ball and really go to extension. I think to many younger girls don't realize how much power they lose when they quit the swing 6-12 inches after hitting the ball.

In my opinion....the bat and ball collision probably last around 2 milliseconds and the distance the bat actually travels may be 12 to 18 inches or less in total inches depending on grip. So at extension the ball is already off the bat. With a proper grip the swing should finish over the shoulder.

We think parallel to the ball and contact and through the ball to finish.

In my opinion, it is what you do well during contact that makes the finish possible.

Releasing the bat head or unhinging the wrist square to the ball depending on the location of the pitch is why we teach how to use a $7 dollar hammer before we show them how to use a $300 dollar bat.

Getting the girls to use their lead arm is usually not understood well which is why we use the hand over drill and this helps with the feeling of through the ball or what some term as extension.

Hips go forward hands go back to catcher. Good load / stride sequence

Back hip fires first in swing. You can tell by the wrinkle in the shirt at the waist.

If your hitter can do these 2 things in their swing they will hit it hard.

Love the on deck batter in #112, almost mirroring the girl hitting. So many girls really don't time the pitcher when they are the on deck hitter. Would love to show this to all of them and say," college girls do it, maybe you should too".

This is the position in a swing called bat lag. Hands and knob inside the path of the pitch before you release the barrel to the ball.

Some so called hitting experts think the hand and arm do not stack over top the elbow in a swing. I beg to differ.
Its more in my daughters swing because of pitch location.

In Casey's bat lag her upper body is abit ahead of her lower. Her hips should be open more and her back foot of the ground some.

She still hit this hard but would have been harder with her hips more involved.
I like how she kept her head down through the swing


At a Crystal / Howard clinic they teach front elbow/knob/release barrel to ball. If you do it right your body will be in this Position just before releasing to impact.

There is allot of good stuff here. Thanks to all and specially Straightleg for putting so much video up. There is allot of Alabama clips on here which in it's self is a good testimonial to what they teach there. If you have not seen them before check out Coach Murphy's hitting DVDs they are called Murphy's Law. There is allot of good stuff in there and some not so good IMO but definitely worth the investment. Like Coach Bee, Howard gives coach Murphy his endorsement and Alabama's offensive stats are pretty impressive to boot.

One clip I would like to go back to is located in post # 98. We ran into something similar to this when Peatkau was in this winter. Howard has some good information on why females should not touch thighs previous to their swing. I think we are seeing evidence of this in this clip.
