post # 76. Look at her stride? The stride should be at toe touch she should be able to lay her bat down and it should be toe to toe. She is not balanced that wide. post #75. She gets her weight over the back side. Watch her rear shoulder move back to the catcher.

So, if she was swinging a 70 inch bat then the stride would be fine...:lmao::lmao: just kidding....

Willy Mays had a stride that stretched from the back of the box to the front of the box. Every once in a great while you will find hitters that damn near do the splits when they swing....and are very successful. It's not something you would teach anyone, but to be honest with you, if there was a problem with her hitting ability I do not believe the coach would have let her continue.

I left off the part if the girl is using the correct bat. That is from Bustos's teaching about the stride. Gerry sent me an e mail last night .

I have watched Natashia's swing alot. I have it from Right View Pro. These 2 are not from that program. Just off another site.

Like Howard says rotate as needed. The outside pitch in the dark blue, she went with it. Rotate as needed.

I have seen where she power slaps, and I believe the swing above in pink, she wanted to hit one out. I have rarely seen her swing that way of clips I have seen. It seems her goal is to get on base from the games I have watched on TV.

The swing in pink looks like she was going to make a statement.

She must really command how she uses a bat because she has so many different swings. DD and I met her once, that was cool!!!

I wish i could a couple of our big hitters in our HS program to see every one of these clips. i've stressed for what seems like years to " finish your swing with hands above the shoulder" and in every video of a player with a nice swing the hands finish nice and high. I continue to see hitters who must have those old school LL coaches(little league for those outside scioto co) who scream " SWING LEVEL" I just keep seeing girls finsh their swing so low. They break their wrist at about the point of contact . Not good. The girls that like thumping that shoulder as they take warm up swings like the redness is some badge of courage . drives me nuts . MD

of the cilps of Natashia, the top one is a outside pitch and also a slower pitch then the bottom clip. She recognizes that and you can see she has a slight pause, adjusts then swings.

Dan let me give you an opinion....in our matrix drill the grip is key for bat control. We have started placing the baby finger of the bottom hand around the knob and tie a pony tail rubber band to the top hand index finger with the knot turned towards the palm of the hand. We space it between the the two creases of the index finger. Then lay the bat across the top hand on the finger side of the rubber band so the top hand finger looks like a hook.

When doing the matrix drill as we go to box, back elbow is down and lead elbow is up and forward and then we say parallel to contact and the knob is inside the path of the ball (tilt and turn) until we decide to release the barrel to the ball. With the lead elbow above the plane of the pitch and the hands below the elbow and the bat head below the hands we are ready to hit.

With a proper grip we unhinge the wrists like we are using a hammer. In my opinion the bat stays on the ball possibly for 2 milliseconds and that in my opinion means the ball and bat collision as to distance, may be 8 to 16 inches and it is over! For me extension is what was done well during contact and through and how you finish is what you did or did not do well during contact and through.

Combine that with the hand over drill and you are on your way to a better swing with minimal effort as most females have never used the lead arm correctly is my opinion.

Call me if you have any questions. :D

She gets her hips out front. Nice swing
I think if she had abit more seperation, she would hit it that much farther

This batter really shows the final drive of the hips off the back leg at contact. I think this is a good example of the "flex the glute" that Howard and Crystl teach.

I like how she loads the inside of the leg. Her hips do not go backwards.
Do you think she steps out to far?

What problems do you see with stepping out to far.

I think it has to do with not getting a firm front leg to hit off of and she looses power being stretched out to far for the rotation to work properly.

What do you see?

The front knee diddnt lock at contact but popped back out , which could have been a few different things thats tough to say for sure , maybe pitch location. Looked like an inside pitch. I dont think her stride is to far. She had her weight moving forward than had to take the pitch inside which changes the whole shooting match as far as mechanics go.
