The Dome in Fort Wayne

We had the opportunty to watch our daughters play this weekend at The Dome. Wow, it was great. The ceiling was high, and there were full fields--approx. 160-180 feet. Balls hit to the ceiling were foul, so the game was a little more realistic. With a shorter outfield, I probably saw 15 or more home runs hit at the tournament. There was also plenty of sitting room for the spectators.

Nice place.

I have been there to the batting cges and it is very nice.
I think it would be better than a in door dirt field.

Good to hear. Our team (Lady Irish 10U) will be there the first weekend of February. Never been there. Looking foward to watching the girls play there.

How good of a turnout of teams were there, and when and how do they release the tournament draw? Thanks!

There was a great turnout of teams at 16 & 18U. I looked at the 16U brackets once, and the only team I recognized was Finess. They were eliminated in the 2nd or 3rd bracket game--not sure if it was final four or final eight. There was a neon yellow team and one more team in the finals. See, I am lots of help.

Luv,

Thanks for the info on The Dome. We are going there in mid February so it's nice to hear it's such a great place!

How was it for sliding? What about the room behind home plate--able to "steal?"

Thanks!

It was an indoor golf range. The second story was used for spectators. There were plenty of opportunities to steal home on a passed ball.

Here is one big difference--Home plate was about 2 FEET WIDE!! I guess it is a soccer corner kick thing. My daughter said she had to crowd the plate so that she could reach the outside of the plate.

It is turf, and some wore cleats, and some wore tennis shoes. I would suggest long pants to protect from sliding burns. Saw a couple big ones.
