I said no such thing. I clearly, multiple times, said he was wrong. He didn't initiate. He reacted....and should be punished. Should he be above pettiness...sure but he is human and it was heat of moment reaction. Do you think he sat down and thought to himself...I am going to put my hands on her next time she does that? HIGHLY Unlikely.

They BOTH should be suspended. I'd lay money that she 100% does NOT feel like she should be punished and she is within her right to not shake hands with him...and I would double down that many of today's parents agree with her...

THAT is gist of what I meant when I said this is what is wrong in America.

Stuff - I apologize I misunderstood the gist -

I think we all agree THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN - and both parties should be punished.

I would be leery of This incident (because this is not the only incident) but if my daughter was good enough to play at FLA -

I'd have her look at schools with the best education possibilities in what she wants to do with her life - I would never want her to go to a school JUST because of the softball program.
I have no Idea what FLA's education profile looks like it may be very good - I don't know - but Great softball program does not top her must have list.
and if FLA fit the bill educationally I would still encourage her to look at other schools because I don't like Walton.

Good answer. Have you ever thought of a career in politics? Haha, j/k

Anyway, if my DD was being recruited by Florida, and they were at the top of her list, this one particular incident would not change my opinion of the program. (This is totally hypothetical of course, as I stated in a prior post that I hate the Florida teams ). But I don't think that this is as big of a deal as everyone is making it out to be.

I agree about the apology. That seems to be the norm today. Apologize without actually saying you're sorry.

I'm not being too honest on that last statement, it was a big deal the moment he decided to NOT walk on past and ignore her poor sportsmanship and decided to give her a little nudge to say " in your face" with your poor sportsmanship. I cant stress enough how coach Walton was in this position for the third time in three games. This wasnt a random " Oh I cant believe this happened" situation . He knew Fagan wasnt going to shake .. He could have ignored , he could have approached Auburns coach about it , He could have cried to the media , but .. but he sure didnt need to give her a intentional push , then lie about doing it , then lie in the apology . So yeah it was a big deal. Florida should come down hard on him , for the cover up as much as the act .

Yeah, if he knew from two prior games that she wasn't going to shake, then that does change things. There was a different camera angle on Sportscenter, and it looks like she dropped her hand before the assistant coach in front of Walton.

With her being a senior, did she always refuse to shake his hand, or was it just this series?

Honestly, I think that they are both a little "full of themselves".

Hmm, all I see are good ticket sales in the future and a spike in viewership and internet traffic.

Everybody hooks up with their PR dept., issues a prepared statement then enjoy the benefits of an incident worthy of TMZ.

An additional 30secs of media.

Play Ball.

As much as I hate to see this sort of thing - It really did give college softball some press time - And that's never a bad thing

I didn't see it happen and haven't caught the replay, but I wish she would have snatched that stupid plastic helmet he wears off of his bean and spit a hocker in it.

What is that thing, anyway??

I have mentioned this to some of my friends who's DD's are playing or will be playing college ball in the future:
I hope and pray that softball NEVER GETS THIS SERIOUS for our girls...EVER...

Ya know...

This kid can make bad choices and Tim Walton can still be a giant tool who let a teenager get the better of him

The two are not mutually exclusive.

Oh,, my bad..

This kid can make bad choices and Tim Walton can still be a giant tool who let a young adult get the better of him

The two are not mutually exclusive.

Feel better?

Also, if he's the kind of **** who will assault a player when he knows the cameras are rolling think of how he acts when he knows no one is looking.

If he put his hands on my kid with that many bats laying around he might end up going out like ole Glenn Rhee.

He would wish someone on the internet had guessed the wrong age...

Kid? 23 years old & my "kid" was treated as adult and expected to behave as adult. I bet she is more like 24ish. At what age is she expected by all of you to behave like a normal adult?

If I was parent of 1 kid who got kicked off Florida team and another that got busted for drug possession...not failing a test, but possession....I MIGHT start looking in the mirror at myself and the failures I have had as a parent.

The parents of today's "kids" are the issue. They have taught this generation (by their actions) that it is ok to do things like this...that is doesn't define them...that we will fix it for you. 2nd chances, 3rd chances 4th chances it's never your fault. No accountability in these kids today. It's not a girl sport or boy sport thing. poor behavior is prevalent in both girls and boys sports today. I do not know who Walton is or do I care. He very well may be a piece of garbage...may very well be a really good guy with a bad rap. If she didn't do what she did...this is non story. Auburn coaches SHOULD have addressed her actions first time she did it. Oh wait...her sister is on Auburn staff. If NCAA didn't punish him then chances are it was not seen as an "assault" by rational human beings. Sports parents are very rarely rational human beings.
