I wouldn't be surprised if she is back before the end of the season.

100000% she will be back before end of season....just like hundreds of male college athletes for the same rules violations every year. That is the world we live in today

I would be surprised if any of the three returns this season. Marijuana possession is a big deal for a program that lost its Associate Coach 2 weeks ago and Head Coach in the cross hairs for the altercation.

Kid? 23 years old & my "kid" was treated as adult and expected to behave as adult. I bet she is more like 24ish. At what age is she expected by all of you to behave like a normal adult?

If I was parent of 1 kid who got kicked off Florida team and another that got busted for drug possession...not failing a test, but possession....I MIGHT start looking in the mirror at myself and the failures I have had as a parent.

The parents of today's "kids" are the issue. They have taught this generation (by their actions) that it is ok to do things like this...that is doesn't define them...that we will fix it for you. 2nd chances, 3rd chances 4th chances it's never your fault. No accountability in these kids today. It's not a girl sport or boy sport thing. poor behavior is prevalent in both girls and boys sports today. I do not know who Walton is or do I care. He very well may be a piece of garbage...may very well be a really good guy with a bad rap. If she didn't do what she did...this is non story. Auburn coaches SHOULD have addressed her actions first time she did it. Oh wait...her sister is on Auburn staff. If NCAA didn't punish him then chances are it was not seen as an "assault" by rational human beings. Sports parents are very rarely rational human beings.
I agree with what you are saying, but I know I made more stupid choices at 23, then I did as I aged. It's the impulse control/impulse choices that are tough at younger ages. Not that it's an excuse, but poor choices come with being young.

Yes. At 23 she is a KID.

She is 4 years removed from being a teenager and she is still on her parents' insurance for 3 more years.

If you don't like it feel free to ask the man child who occupies 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue to change the law. He said he would do it on day 1. For some reason he hasn't done anything...

As the idiot who you likely voted for said "who knew it could be so complicated???"

It would take someone deaf, blind, dumb, and born to follow to not look at the coach who just assaulted a player from another team instead of the KID who just got the better of him.

Being 4 years removed from being a teen has nothing to do with being an adult. Completely irrelevant. She is going to college for free..there is an expectation to behave in a professional manner.

How did this become a Trump issue? Get over the election...it is who it is.

You are also coming across as typical bleeding heart liberal...insult, threaten, & insinuate a lack of intelligence anytime someone doesn't think the way you do or agree with your stance.

Irrational much?

Well, there's your answer. Kid or adult, doesn't matter. Representing a school that's put you on scholarship to play for them you should be smart enough not to do something so stupid. And the fact that they are re-instated makes me lose all respect for the program, coach and AD at auburn, tho I assume I would lose a lot respect for a LOT of programs in the same situation.
Are there any programs that don't play to win at any cost and will overlook little things like drugs, assaults. Etc. sad statement for the auburn program

As a huge SEC fan it saddens me , smoking dope during the season = goodbye . Nothing can excuse that . But Auburn has never been a SEC team I really liked , them and Tn ( football and hoops) can go ACC or wherever , both of them are embarrassing.

I am not sure why this is a big surprise. Most schools have a program if you get get caught with or using drugs the first time you have to take classes maybe do some volunteer work and team punishment. The next time they suspend you. From the article lewam linked:
"Fagan did not test positive for any illegal substance following her arrest."

All well and good that she did not test positive, in my book being arrested with it and having drug paraphernalia is enough treason to be kicked off for me.
She is a rep of that university and has shown no respect for the school and what they have given her.

So you are saying some athletes should be held to a different standard than others? Most schools have a policy in place for all athletes. Most schools give kids a second chance as the do with all students.

Not saying that at all. I think they all should be held to a higher standard. If I get arrested for drugs or DUI my employer drops me like a hot rock. They've been given a shot to play college ball and represent their school, they should be held to a higher standard in my opinion, and that's all it is, just my opinion.....

Yes...athletes on scholarships SHOULD BE held to higher standard. But at the end of the day...they (boys girls all sports) all get reinstated the 1st time or 2. I saw that she tested negative....so does that mean her teammates in the car were to blame for it being in the car or are they selling it or did she go to health store for the magic tea they sell to clean your urine for drug tests?
