Tournament question

We received our schedule for upcoming tournament in which our team plays at 8:00 a.m. which we can live with and done in the past. However, what is the reasoning behind scheduling a team the early game as well as the last game of the day at 6:30 in the evening? I don't know who created the brackets, but obviously they are not too bright.

I do not know which tournament you are talking about, but there are several factors that go into determining when games need to be played.

1. ?How many teams-all age divisions
2. ?How many fields are available
3. ?At what time do you want the tournament to end on Sunday (without rain delays)

When the brackets are set-up, there are usually no team names, just games. ?The teams are drawn into pools and then they progress into the game slots.

Every tournament director trys to "massage" or move games around to eleviate long periods between games but sometimes that is not possible.

Now after having said all that, there are some times when it appears that no thought went into the schedule. ?Please try to put yourself in the directors shoes. ?It might be a new director who is trying his best.

I was just blowing off some steam. Originally we were set for our last game at a much earlier time and then getting the news about having the 6:30 slot really sucks! :(
