Travel season and gas prices

Well it figures that gas prices are hitting an all time high just in time for the beginning of travel ball. We usually take the suburban to the games as we can fit all our stuff in it and still travel in comfort. Lets see, a true fill up from empty with a 42 gallon tank at $3.55 a gallon is just about $150.00 and at say 10 weekends is $1500.00!! Anyone else feel my pain? Oh yeah, and don't forget practices. >:( >:( >:(

>:( >:( >:( ?I couldn't agree more! ?The worst part IMO is that our government isn't doing a thing about it. ?>:( >:(The gas companies are taking advantage of the summer travel season, just like the lumber companies did down south after the hurricanes. ?It's simply price gouging and it's all for the might dollar. ?It makes me SICK!!!!! ?These high prices will definitely make it harder for us, especially since my son is on a travel team too. ?

Make sure your car has been tuned up and has the proper air pressure in the tires, this will help fuel economy. Car pool as much as you can, tailgate to save money on food expenses, which can offset the cost of the gas. Unfortunately there is no end in sight and it will get worse before it gets better. I think all of us will feel the pinch this year.

Yeah~I feel it too! I almost have to take on a part-time job ;)just to take them to practices and games~3 kids x 3 different directions= my paycheck! Hopefully it all drops after the holiday weekend~but there is no price gouging going on~none at all......billions in profits whatever.....and remember our gov't is ran by an oilman.......he has no reason to do anything about it.....profits and almost out of office....

and i had the dumb notion that teaching summer school would pay for stuff around the house..NOT..gas and concession burgers, here we come!

I also had the notion that getting my Umpires license in... OHSAA, ASA, And USSSA this year would help put a roof on my house, NOT... I will need it to help out with Gas... Brought in about $1300 April to present, however fees and gear ran me $700.

Good thing is I'm in the black now. Might as well give it to some shiek in the Big Sand Box. :'(

Let's tap Alaska!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

we're going to start seeing DD's and their parents on roadside with signs...
"Need a ride to ASA Nationals"
"Will hit for gas"
"Will slap bunt for fuel"
"I'll even play outfield"

well, since Bush is too busy calling every oil-producing country "evil" we're stuck with 4 dollar gas... Alaska has about as much chance of being drilled than a 12u player playing 16's (except for maybe the Slammers)

5 seconds until bigtrain gives his response

I think instead of my suburban this year we will take the HHR. You will see me coming and it will give everyone
a good laugh with ten tons of softball equipment plus a cooler on top of it. Good luck everyone.
Go Northmont Thunder!

I am also in the same boat. One dd playes for one organization and the other dd for a different organization. Only one weekend are they at the same tourny. Trips to Detroit, New York and Pittsburg ad up fast. I drive a F-250 that gets about 13 MPG. Ouch!

Maybe we could all join together to form a Co-op. We could put all are assets together, but a bulk amount of fuel at a discounted price, then use from our reserve.
I'll get started on that right away.....
