Turbo Stats Problems?

For all of you Turbo Stats/Scorekeeper users, has anyone had any problem with the software eating up the battery on your Palm Pilot or locking up your hard drive on your lap top? We have just started using it, capturing live stats during our tournament games and it totally sucked the battery on my palm pilot dry and when I plugged in the pilot to recharge the battery, it wouldn't take the charge or fully charge the battery ever again! :'( :'(

How do you keep it charged enough to do multiple games in a given day?

Would love to hear from those of you who experienced this and hopefully figured out a fix!

Thanks :)

For the last 2 years I've been able to get 3 game in before the battery goes dead.I only remember it freezing up once in that time.It sounds like a Palm problem to me not the software.

I just put it on the Palm 3 that is a few years old with AAA batteries and it was good so far for four games, only 1/2 battery gone. No lockups or anything yet knock wood...

Thanks for sharing your experiences. We are going to try again this weekend, turning the pilot off between pitches and innings to preserve battery life. Hopefully this will work. :-/

I have a Palm Treo smartphone with Turbostats trial version installed. The bonus is you can buy spare batteries and easily swap them. The drawback is using your phone for scorekeeping.

If you really want to have enough juice to last all weekend, take a hint from amateur radio enthusiasts, and take a small 12v motorcycle battery. You should be able to run a Palm Pilot for a month off of that!

have not had a problem with it eating up my batteries either. I usuallty get 3 games in - as long as they do not go into extra innings - but I also have a "Battery Extender" that plugs into it when the charge is gone on the Palm and will keep it going for another 3-4 games. I have only had one freeze-up in the last 149 games and no problems when entering/transferring it to the computer either.
