Just for the record, Howard was not criticizing the Outcast team, he happened to be critizing my own dd, who in fact is one of his girls, who also was in fact warming-up very lazy and incorrectly. He knows he has our support in correcting her when he sees this. As for the Outcast team, nice to see you at the tournament this weekend, you have a very great competative group of girls and will have a good year ahead of you.:)

OK sports fans here we go...To bring these people to town cost money and unless we get about 18 more people to register by this Wednesday we will not break even as to cost, renting the facility, bringing Crystl and Jenny Topping to town plus air fare and hotels and we will be forced to canceling the clinic.

--< snip >--

We hope to get enough people to attend and if not we will see you at the next clinic.

If you want to register call Mary Ellen Bonner at 513-659-6091 or email at mebonner@cinci.rr.com

Thanks Crystl and Howard and a bunch of other people!

Mary Ellen & Howard,

I just wanted to let you know that I'm getting a list of girls from my team together and will let you know the final tally by Wednesday. We're up to five so far, but I haven't heard from everyone yet.

Thanks,

Chris

Update...we need about 31 more to break even on expenses so if you are thinking about it please sign up now so we can make a decision.

A plus to this, always trying to find a positive, is that we will try to have 20 stations and instructors so we be able to have a lot of quality swings per student and Crystl and I will be roving to all the station as we always do at our clinics to answer any questions you may have....if it is on your mind ask us while you are there so we can get you an answer that day.

All the instructors have been trained by me and have worked with us before and know our system.

Call Mary Ellen Bonner at 513-659-6091 or email her at mebonner@cinci.rr.com to register.

The clinic is a GO!

We will adjust to the number of kids that register and have a low number of students per station to maximize the number of reps they will get so make sure they get a good nights rest because they are going to get a lot of swings in.

All the instructors have been trained by me personally and some of our kids will be home from college and will be there to help demonstrate our hitting techniques.

We are setting up the screen closer to the parents so you will be able to hear and see what we are presenting better.

I will be contacting our station instructors hopefully by this evening to assure you will be attending.

Thanks to all of you for making this happen.

Crystl Bustos Named 2008 USA Softball Player of the Year
OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - After a stellar 2008 season which included her retirement, three-time Olympian Crystl Bustos (Canyon Country, Calif.) was named the 2008 USA Softball Player of the Year by the Amateur Softball Association. Bustos leaves behind a legacy not only as the most powerful hitter in the game, but also as a leader on and off the field.
"It's an honor to be named the USA Softball Player of the Year as I was surrounded by such an amazing group of athletes daily throughout this past year," said Bustos. "Although the outcome of the gold medal game wasn't what we would have liked, I am so thankful for being able to represent my country for so many years."
Bustos was stellar throughout the 2008 Olympic Games, including coming out strong in the semi-final and gold medal game. In the semifinal match-up, Bustos blasted a three-run home run against Japanese pitching ace Yukiko Ueno in the top of the ninth inning giving the U.S. the 4-1 victory. Bustos also scored the only U.S. run in the gold medal game with a solo home run again off of Ueno. Her next at bat was an intentional walk, the third of the Games for her.
Bustos wrapped up the Beijing Games hitting .500 (11-for-22) with a team-high six home runs and 10 RBI. She also broke two of her own records as well as tied one. She broke the record of most home runs hit (5) in an Olympic Games with six and broke her Olympic slugging percentage of .923 from 2004 hitting 1.318 in 2008. She recorded 12 runs as the U.S. outscored opponents 58-5, while tying her own RBI Olympic record with 10 from 2004.
She finishes her Olympic career with four records including the career home run Olympic record with 14 from 2000, 2004 and 2008.
Bustos retired her cleats after the 3-1 loss on home plate of the Fengtai Stadium and will forever be remembered and appreciated by the ASA and fans across the world.

Congratulations CB from all of us who have worked with you over the years and have learned more about the game and how to teach it and for coming back year after year to help us learn more.

Thanks from ALL of US!

It IS HUGE!

She hit six home runs and used a different pair of batting gloves for each one! Next time you are at the house I will show you the pair she used against Japan which are signed!

We hope we get a good turn out from the Static Crew on Dec.27 and 28.

How many do we have signed up for your clinic on the Jan. 11?

How did you like the article on the ACL information?

ACL info was really nice. Are you OK with us distributing it to our players?

We are expecting 70 or so for the Static Deal. Numbers are growing daily.

Thanks for helping and we can't wait to get down to business.

Yes go ahead and give it out and we talk about it at both clinics. Thanks to one of our parents who works at Children's Hospital we got to visit their Sports Med. Department and learn more about ACL issues and how to prevent it from happening. After the holidays we are going down again while one of our kids is working out so we can see the actual course and routine they put the kids through.

Bustos Named 2008 USA POY

We know this clinic is not going to be full so you are going to get a lot of swings in and a lot of instruction!

Make sure you bring a note book as we want the kids to take notes and we will also provide a hand out.

We consider her to be the female Barry Bonds of hitters minus the drugs of course and how could you miss this opportunity to work with the ASA Player of the Year for about 6 or 7 hours and just hang out with her and learn from THE best female hitter in the world?

If you can not make it to our clinic you should try to get to Wright States Clinic as it is the best in this area in my opinion and a lot of others share that point of view also! They doubled their offensive stats in one year so what they do works for their players and they teach what we teach! If you were at our last clinic you heard Coach Larabee say it for yourself...this stuff works!

In my opinion the WhipHit is the better choice....

If your front side opens too much you will miss the ball on a tee completely or will hook the ball foul by swinging around it.

If you cast out or make a bad first move you will hit it with the rope.

You must have a great hand path as you only have about a 2.25 inch area to hit with and I think the center of the ball to handle is about 28 inches so you are targeting using the sweet spot of the bat to the ball every time.

If you swing down or level to the ball this is not a device you want to use! It kind of takes the bull **** out of swinging down or level as you will hit yourself using it so why swing that way. I shake my head every time I see a kid slapping their shoulders or back when they swing. If you or I did that to them it would be considered a form of child abuse wouldn't it? And yet there are people teaching this swing at all levels of the game. If you can hit it out of the park you don't have to worry about the defense just make sure you touch them all. The kids give me their special home run balls and we have racks on the wall and we ran out of room so I have an old wooden bushel basket....how appropriate was one parents comment!

Our girls in China took batting practice with this and all my girls can hit soft toss with it....some better than others but they can all do it. I have one boy from Mason who is 10 years old and has no problem using it.

We will have 10 of the WhipHits to use at the clinic also.

I talked to Mary Ellen today and there will not be any problems with walk ups and we are not at capacity.

I am repeating myself however it is food for thought...your daughter is going to get in a lot of swings and probably more instruction than any clinic they have ever been too before so take advantage of it and get the girls down here.

Crystl and I will be available all day to answer any of your questions and if you are not happy about something let us know right away and we will resolve it!

If you want to challenge us as too why we do it a certain way ask us privately or publicly as we have no problem with either...you may or may not like the answer however we will defend our position as to why and demonstrate how we do it.

Some of you from the last clinic asked the questions why aren't our daughters coaches teaching this? Why do they insist they swing down on the ball, level to the ball, lay the bat backwards, squish the bug, stand up in front of the batters box, show bunt on two strikes, keep their elbows down or in towards the body, step stop and rotate and throw their hands at the ball etc?

We don't know why so bring them along and let them defend their position because if they believe it they should be able to defend their position as to how they teach it shouldn't they!

See you this weekend!
