Re: Players Clinic Featuring UD Coaches
"consider 30 bucks no big deal. you should have wasted over 200 at the olympic clinic. Talk about a joke- Jenny spent most of the time talking about herself and there was no real instruction on the pitching side. Howarad was very winded on the hitting side also but I will say they were more focused on hitting. I would not recomend attending these unless you don't mind spending the money to get to meet the olympians."
Both days of the clinic we went into the audience to ask how things were going to see if there were any issues or questions anyone had. We probably spent 30 minutes or more doing that. Then at lunch we answered questions and after wards we stayed around for a couple hours demonstrating and answering questions and letting the kids try out different bats we had brought to the clinic.
Many of the kids wanted to know more about Jennie, such as how fast she threw the ball, who taught her how to pitch, how many pitches did she throw at 14 and which one was her best. She was giving them what THEY wanted. Could you explain NO REAL INSTRUCTION ON THE PITCHING SIDE? Was it a Doug Gillis teaching clinic? No she went over general pitching concepts and showed the girls what she does. It would be interesting to her from this persons daughter if she enjoyed herself or if it was sticker shock on dad's part. It costs money to bring the Olympians to this part of the country and rent out a facility like we had.
One dad put it in perspective by saying if I had a son and he could spend the day talking to Barry Bonds or Albert Pujolses about hitting it would be a memory for the rest of his life and my daughters being with Jennie and Crystl with pictures and autographs sealed the deal and when are they coming back!
Talking about good or bad things that happen at a public clinic is healthy as AnotherSoftballMom pointed out....6 weeks after the event seems a little late if you were not satisfied especially after WE think we went way out of the way to make sure we handled all the issues that were presented to us during the clinic. I think they signed anything presented to them and gave photo opportunities to everyone. If you followed them on tour this year you may have waited in line and still never got an autograph, complained about the parking, seating and concessions.
We had a lot more people that were satisfied and did not feel like they wasted their money or time coming to this clinic.
This person also pointed out in a PM that he felt he got his monies worth going to the Wright State Clinic...that is why it is one of the best in this area and why we had the WSU staff working the stations...maybe we did get something correct.
You could have called and this could all have been avoided or better yet asked us the day you become frustrated to see how we would have handled it...now you have to come back and try it again Dec.27 and 28.
