OK, I'm not from Ohio and must have really have really missed something.

But what happened to the Slammerz? Why did they break up.

I know honestly I thought they where a great thing going, and a pleasure to watch. They where taking softball to another level without question in this area.

Thoughts? or shouldn't I ask.

No Mysteries here.

People are people and once people are not on same page any longer it is time to move on. Slammers was a team that spanned 4 years between players ages..(12, 13, 14, some 15s with that lucky b-day) last year. You can imagine that alone is going to create families/ players maturing into different needs/goals over time.

In reality, I find it amazing that Slammers as committed and hard working as they were stayed together so long with kids focused/ dialed in and successful at so many different ages.

Slammers should be celebrated for their great success, but people like to see last year as a demize, while I saw it as a huge success. Nothing lasts forever.

All parties involved will admit there is nowhere else they would have rather been previous years.

Slammers just ran it's course with the variety of ages within that team.

Slammers were the best hands down, in my opinion, from around Ohio and of course many other states as well. My team did have the pleasure of playing against them a few years ago when I coached Ohio Heat 12u. It was fun and also amazing on how good they were. I wish all the girls and whomever else that was involved with them the best of luck. I am sure all of them will get scholarships if they stick with it.

Actually 5 years but heck, why start getting the facts straight on here now?

It's far more interesting readiing all of the inaccurate info, rumors and theories everyone likes to post. ;)

Talking with some of the coaches that were following the Slammers, they had inner team issues and could no longer stay together. Some say they could get back together and do great things for Ohio Softball. I'm not from around those part's but I will tell you this, only because as a recruiter I followed some of them and the team...Ohio needs to find a way to get them back together...quickly!! Some coach needs to step up and take that team and bring it back together. That was the only team that from Ohio was getting Ohio itself and other teams noticed in the rest of the country, especially out west here. Guess we can just hope for the best.

Ahhh! The weather has turned, the clocks have been set back, it's dark when you leave for work in the morning and by the time you get home in the evening. The off-season doldrums are here.....

Oh, wait!! A Slammers thread... great idea!!

Hey, let's hijack this thread and post some of the great teams of the past. The Slammers talk is already getting old. Who wants to start?

444--John --have to say it's sad that college recruiters or softball gurus's would "only" follow the career's of what was a great team --but they were not the only horse in town so to speak . They went 0-2 VS Laser Red last year (same age group) , both games hotly contested and well played I'd guess --not some meaningless pool play game or indoor game in January. Both were at a high profile tourney.

I guess my point is there are many talented players/teams in ohio. The Slammers were indeed GREAT , but so are a handful of other elite ohio teams (Elyria sundogs laser red ) . Much of the hype was well deserved , but don't overlook others that were right close with them.

Sorry MD, please disregard my last post. I forgot the Slammers were not a Little League team.
