What really matters

Just wanted to share a story.

My little one is on a winless Emerald Necklace team. She's a pretty decent player and just as sick of losing as I was (or so I thought) Last game, in the middle of another probable run-rule loss, I looked over at my kid while one the "automatic outs" walked up to the plate to probably stand there and look at strike three. I was expecting to see her look over at me and roll her eyes or shake her head and what I saw was her (not knowing I was looking) standing up against the fence clapping and saying "c'mon Julia, you can do this"

Kinda put it all in perspective for a moment.

That is awesome. Sounds like you have done well with your daughter. Most important thing is some of the life lessons that they learn and hopefully they become better players during the year

Nah, I think sometimes we outside the fence just don't know what's really going on that's all.

That is awesome!! That is so what "TEAM" is all about!!

Our 16U team has faced many adversities over the last couple weeks. We were in a tournament this past weekend play with 10 players, when 2 of our players conked heads going after a play at second base requiring CT scans at the nearby childrens hospital! :( Both girls were out of commission for the 3rd game. So, we threw a jersey on 12 year old girl, who barely played a day in her life, to make 9 players! I have never seen a team of athletes rally behind someone so much! They pulled together and cheered that kid on like she was a champion!! I love when a "team" comes together like that! It only makes them stronger!

Your dd is learning a very valuable lesson in life!! It can only make her a better player, and most certainly teammate!! Awesome!! :yahoo:
